CRAVINGS

My appetite has been pretty normal lately. I’m actually craving healthy foods again!

AVERSIONS

Just the same ones I’ve had all throughout my pregnancy. No new ones.

OTHER SYMPTOMS

Frequent urination: I’m still a peeing machine and wake up multiple times every night.

Morning sickness: It’s going away (for the most part)!! FINALLY! I can hardly believe it. My evenings are enjoyable once again!

Indigestion: Hardly any. Baby H. has definitely dropped!

Sleep: I woke a few times last week around 3:00 AM and then tossed and turned for at least an hour before falling back to sleep. My brain was just so wired at that hour.

Clear skin: Still looking great!

Colitis stuff: Eh, things took a turn for the worse. I was getting so much better, but now I’m seeing blood and all that fun stuff. I’m better than I was before I got pregnant, so I’m still trucking along with my meds and hoping things get better.

Signs of labor: My doctor told me that I am 1.5 cm dilated, and I am having some cramping from time-to-time, but other than that, nothing.

Weight gain: At my 38-week appointment last week, I had gained 38 pounds.

WORKOUTS

Week 38 was my final week of “regular” workouts. Here’s a recap: 38 weeks. I stopped doing CrossFit, and I’ll be taking Murphy for long walks as a way to get exercise until Baby H. arrives.

ADDITIONAL UPDATES

I finished packing my bag for the hospital.

Thanks again for all of your wonderful suggestions on my previous post about what to pack for the hospital. I actually have a post coming soon with what is inside mine!

I scheduled doctor’s appointments after my due date.

For some reason, I thought Baby H. would come early. He always measured big at my appointments and my mom went into labor 19 days early with me. Plus, all of my girlfriends, who CrossFitted throughout their pregnancies, had their babies early too, so I thought maybe I would too? Who knows? Honestly, I am super impatient and just want to meet him already! Well, Baby H. definitely isn’t in any hurry to get here, so I made a couple of appointments after my due date to meet with my doctor just in case I need to be induced.

Murphy finally accepted my baby bump.

It only took him 38 weeks, but he finally accepts and embraces it.

In case you missed them, my pregnancy updates so far:

  1. It is really awesome how you documented your pregnancy. Some day you and your son will be able to look back on this. I wish during my 80 pound weight loss I would have done this. Unfortunately, I didn’t set out with a plan to lose weight. It just happened.

  2. Omgshhhhh almost there….!!!! Seeing these pictures seriously makes me have flashbacks of the beauty, but utter discomfort pregnancy was at times…especially at the very end stretch. God bless you guys and hang in there, so exciting! Ps: Not sure if this is unwanted advice, but from my experience it really helped to push more downwards, rather than being completely flattened out like you see in movies 😛

  3. Tina-I am so excited for the arrival of your first born! You’ve made it look so easy thus far,I’m keeping a prayer going that you have a easy labor. For some reason I’m not able to see responses to comments,if you would like to email I’m mzzzpinky@aol.com…love ya hun!

  4. Great about the morning sickness..shit about the colitis! Fingers crossed things look up. The best pick is week 37…your tummy looks completely separate from your body! Stand alone!

  5. I love seeing all the weekly photos all together! It’s so amazing what the body does during pregnancy. With my first I was so sure I would go early as everyone I knew and their dog were between 1-3 weeks early. Me? Induced two weeks late… But if you have dropped than you are already much more progressed than I was!

  6. Tina you look great! Have you heard that frequent waking up during pregnancy is nature’s way of preparing mom for waking up with baby? Sounds like you’re ready!! Enjoy! My little one is 8 months and it is flying by! He now comes and sits and watches my husband and I wod at our box. It’s awesome!

  7. Love the picture progression! I feel like your pregnancy has flown by and now it is just a waiting game. Sending you lots if food wishes for you and baby!

  8. Best of luck in the next few days (and weeks, and months 🙂

Good for you for keeping on top of your colitis stuff. Mine went downhill towards the end of my pregnancy and really haywire after my daughter was born. Doctors suspect it had to do with change in hormones, etc. My mistake was ignoring it and refusing a lot of the meds because I wanted to breastfeed. Unfortunately for me it spiraled out of control and resulted in surgery. . . anyway, I’m fine now, and I’m not telling you this to scare you. I just wanted you to know that I think it is great you are keeping an eye out for symptoms and working with your docs. My docs at the time acted like they had never dealt with a pregnant woman with UC before and weren’t very helpful (I have a new GI now :).

  9. I remember that feeling. I was sure I’d be early since my mom had me 3 weeks early and my grandma had all her babies early. So when I was scheduleing the “just in case I’m late apt” I thought I’d never need it. Turns out I was induced at 10 days late and had her 11 days after my due date. Good luck!

  10. LOL. OMG I thought that was string cheese on your belly that Murphy had taken a bite of. Now I realize it’s a dog bone. HAH. Glad he’s finally accepting the bump…he’s a little late to the game, though! 🙂

  11. You could still go early! I was 1cm with no signs…. Then whoosh my waters broke and 12 hours later I had my daughter, Audrey, in my arms! Good luck! Can’t wait to see him and find out his name!

  12. Hang in there! As someone who has worked in a large pediatric hospital and also as a mom, those last few weeks are all about brain development. The longer that baby cooks, the better they are at feeding-it takes a lot to suck, swallow and breathe, its a lot of coordination and they also sleep better. Additionally, systems are still developing, neuro development is finalized in those last few weeks. So they are important. My best friend was induced a week late with her first and her second arrived a week and a half early, she said that her first was a lot more alert and easier to breastfeed than her second. I had my son at 37 weeks, he was a tiny guy so all he wanted to do was eat so that wasn’t a problem but it took longer for him to get to sleep a good stretch of 4-5 hours, not until he was almost 2.5 months did he sleep for 4-5 hours.

While you may be uncomfortable, you are probably still getting more sleep than you will once he arrives!

  13. Good to be prepared at this stage of the game! With my second, I worked a full day in the office only to have my water break as soon as I got out of the car after work. Packing my bag in advance was the best decision!!

  14. Way to be so prepared! He’ll be here before you know it–so keep soaking it all up 🙂 And I can say–it’s an old wives tale but it rang true for us, the longer they cook (within reason) the better sleeper they tend to be 😉

  15. That picture of Murphy is so cute, you should reproduce it once Baby H is born!! 1.5 cm is a great start too. Congratulations on such a healthy pregnancy, it’s been a joy following along with you 🙂

  16. love the collage of baby bump pics. You are so organized!
I was 2 weeks late and my mom said i was the easiest baby in the world slept through the nights and didn’t cry too much. =)

I am always so impressed with women who enter motherhood. I got a puppy and cried every day for the first month to my sister-in-law from being overwhelmed caring for him. LOL! I vividly remember me crying at 2am in the middle of a cold rainy, windy, march to my 11 week old puppy GO POTTY!!!! LOL.

Glad Murphy finally accepted the baby bump with his peace offering bone.

    Any day now….

  17. I wish I had kept track of my pregnancies the way you have! At the time you feel like you’ll never forget all of it but then, years pass and it’s all hard to remember. Good luck with the last days, in my experience there’s no way to feel good during this time you just have to get through it. And then the rest of your life starts. Craziness!

  18. Any day now! Crazy!! My little man was a week late, I was scheduled to be induced on a Monday, then He decided to come two days before that on a Saturday… but took his sweet time so I still had to be induced at the hospital. Hopefully that won’t happen but this is the beginning of the “ok… any time now buddy” part!

  19. I am 35 weeks and I think the opposite. I think I will be late because I still have an under 20 lb. weight gain but my doctor insisted that doesn’t go hand in hand. I am measuring perfectly as is baby so maybe I will be early. I am due July 2nd. I am really hoping for an Indepence Day baby. Wouldn’t it be nice for Mal if he was born on Fathers Day?

  20. I thought I was going to go early too – then my midwife informed me that all first-time moms think they will go early! I was 8 days late with my son. The worst part of being late was all the text messages and phone calls asking “any baby yet?” ARGH!!

I even had a stranger in my neighbourhood shout out to me as I was walking my dog – “would you hurry up and have that baby already?” I guess I was feeling impatient and grumpy that day b/c I gave him a look and kept walking. Geez….

Anyways, enjoy your last few days or weeks sans baby! 🙂

  21. any bra (sports and regular) recommendations based on what you’ve used throughout your pregnancy? i finally bought some new cheap bras, but think maybe i should invest in nicer ones that might last me the rest of my 20 weeks being pregnant!

  22. You’re so close and looking amazing! Happy to hear Murphy’s on board…or at least, accepting. 🙂 Breathe in, breathe out and savor these last few days. We’re all excited to meet Baby H too!

  23. My boy was 2 weeks over when I was induced. He slept through the night at 2 weeks old also..which was sweet!

  24. Haha. I love that Murphy has embraced it just to have it go away soon. Do you think he’ll be all disgruntled trying to figure out your post-baby tummy?
Sorry about the colitis crap. That can’t be fun. At least, on the good side, your nauseau finally went away!
