Pretty Woman

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Hello, hello! 😀

There is zero (healthy) food in our house right now, so Mal and I decided to hit up the massive salad bar at the Fruit Center Marketplace for dinner tonight. I could have easily made a $10 salad with all of the delicious options available, but mine cost just over $4. Not too shabby for “take-out,” right? Mal’s salad, however, cost a bit more. He loves all of the “heavy” stuff, like chicken and hard-boiled eggs, in his salad. Typical guy. Anyway, my salad was fabulous!

For dessert, I enjoyed a zillion oatmeal cookies from Lucy’s. I’m not one to turn down cookies, so when the company offered to send me some samples, I gladly agreed. These oatmeal cookies are light and crisp with a nice, wholesome flavor. As previously mentioned, I ate a zillion of them, so I guess you could say that I liked ’em! 😉

When I got home from work, I snacked on a piece of whole wheat toast with melted Swiss cheese. It was nothing fancy, but it hit the spot.

Pretty Woman

My favorite movie of all time is Pretty Woman. Minus the prostitution part, I always felt like I could relate to this story: Vivian (Julie Robert) emerges from her humble existence to become a lovely, sophisticated woman, who ultimately finds her knight in shining armor (Richard Gere). Ok, so, maybe I’m not “sophisticated” (I laugh hysterically at fart jokes), but I can definitely relate to Vivian’s story. Plus, what’s not to love about the movie’s fairy-tale ending?

Anyway, in honor of my favorite movie and Dave and Marie’s wedding/my 30th birthday on Saturday, I rented Nicole Miller’s Pretty Woman Lace Dress from Rent the Runway (RTR). I had such a great experience with RTR the first time (btw, here’s the dress), I decided to rent from them again– and I coordinated a giveaway for you guys! 😀

To enter: Just leave a comment on this post about the dress you’d pick from Rent the Runway. I’ll randomly pick a winner on Friday morning to receive a $100 gift certificate to reserve it!

Good luck!

  1. I’d rent the the fuscia Tibi Bahamas Beaded Dress for an event this summer. I’d wear it while hoping to run into my ex boyfriend. 😉

  2. I live in CO. On the weekend of July 24th I have two wedding to go to. One on Saturday in Washington D.C. and the other in Breckenridge, CO on Sunday. I really wanted to rent a dress from RTR, but on top of the rental fees I would have to extend it to an 8 day rental instead of the 4 day rental since I was leaving the Wednesday prior. I wanted to rent the “Thread Social Fairytale Dress” (the one you rented before). I felt like it just wasn’t working in my favor until I read this blog! Thanks!

  3. I rarely enter giveaways, but I knew I just had to enter this one because my first bridal shower is coming up in a few weeks. It’s a couples shower taking place in the evening, and I would definitely love to rock either the Black Halo Jackie O red dress or the Robert Rodriguez Black Label Celebration Swept Dress. PICK ME, please! 🙂

  4. What a great giveway. I love the Tuleh Leopard print ruched mini – perfect for my 30-year high school reunion in a few months. thanks!!

  5. Wow! How do you choose just one?!?! I really like the Nicole Miller
Keyhole Goddess Gown. It is gorgeous!

  6. I would try out something like the Yigal Azrouël Framboise Fantasy Dress…its not something I would buy and is a different style…would be fun to try out!

  7. I’m going to a wedding in August. The Robert Rodriguez Black Label Sapphire Storm Dress would be perfect!

  8. wow there are so many great dresses it’s hard to pick! but gotta go with Helmut Lang bare shoulder dress! it’s a beauty!

  9. Awesome giveaway! I used RTR once before, and was so pleased with their service.

I personally love the Lace Corset Sheath by Peter Soronen. It’s sexy and sophisticated. (Though I fear I’d have a very hard time parting with it…).

Btw, I adore the Pretty Woman dress! That will look so perfect for your birthday!

  10. I would get any of the little white dresses! I am getting married in a small ceremony this fall and would wear it to my after-ceremony dinner! It’d be nice to wear something special for that occasion!

  11. I actually just rented a dress from RTR for a wedding – love the concept and can’t wait to do it again! The new colorful Tibi dresses are gorgeous!

  12. I would get the Halston Heritage perfect party dress. I love the purple and gold colors and the open back!

  13. The Brian Reyes Watercolor Wonder dress is amazing!

You are definitely a “pretty woman” in your own right. You came from humble beginnings (as did I) and look how far you’ve come! People read about your every day life because you’re interesting and funny and you have great things to say about life. 🙂

  14. I would pick the Robert Rodriguez Black Label Ruffled Coral Dress – perfect for a southern summer wedding I have in a few weeks!

  15. I’m the Maid of Honor in my little sister’s wedding next month and have been looking everywhere for the perfect dress to wear for her rehearsal dinner. I love the Tibi Abstract Flower Dress because it looks so cute and conservative from the front, but it has a dip in the back that makes it fun!

  16. Pretty Woman is my favourite movie too! I’ve loved it since I was a little girl. I would likely rent something Diane von Furstenberg because I love how her dresses fit a woman’s body. Have fun!

  17. This may be my favorite blog giveaway yet 🙂 I had so much fun browsing the dresses at work…I went for classic black in a flirty style…Theory Beaded Detail Chemise!

  18. I have literally 10 wedding to go to this summer (AHHH I KNOW!) so winning that gift certificate could be a lifesaver for me! So, if I were to rent a dress from RTR I would rent the Nicole Miller
    Speechless Sweetheart Mini..soo cute!!

  19. I totally love and would get the Robert Rodriguez Collection Heavy Metal Dress in purple.

  20. I have been dying to try the Herve Leger color me bad dress in coral. I have been a member at Rent the Runway for over a year but haven’t had the guts to rent a dress! This would be the perfect opportunity for me to wear a dress for my brother’s wedding next month. Thank you!

  21. Love your pick, Tina. So pretty! I would pick the Nicole Miller – Amazon Cocktail dress for a summer wedding I have coming up. Great giveaway.

  22. I’ve been looking at RTR for a couple months. I really want to rent a dress for a summer wedding I have comnig up. I hope I win! So far I think I would pick the Shoshanna – Bright Bold Floral Dress. So cute & summery!

  23. I love the dress you picked this time and the previous one too! Thanks to you I have now signed up for RTR and can’t wait to rent my first dress for the first wedding of the season (I have 5 this year). I want to get Halston Heritage’s pretty poncho dress!

OH and I like your salad photo, looks like some interesting ingredients in there. You’ve inspired me to diversify with my salad bar options.
