Today was a really good day because it included many of my favorite things: Marylou’s iced coffee, delicious leftovers, a tough workout, discovering an awesome new restaurant, and spending time with blog friends. For a rainy Monday, there’s not much more I could ask for!
Snack
Midmorning, Mal and I took a break from working (he’s taking an online class) to visit Marylou’s to take advantage of their 25th anniversary celebration.
I had planned to order a 25-cent regular iced coffee, but I changed my mind as soon as I walked in the door of Marylou’s. I went with a Peanut Butter Wonderful iced coffee and happily paid full price for it.
Lunch
A few hours later, it was time for lunch. I raided the refrigerator for leftovers from the Pig Party. I loaded up my plate with potato salad, pasta salad, pulled pork, sausage, and veggies. Holy yum.

Workout
After lunch, I hit the gym for a treadmill workout followed by my most recent Carrots ”˜N’ Weights workout, which sort of kicked my butt.
My running coach sent me a 35-minute workout for today, so I wrote it on a Post-It note to take with me to the gym.
E = Easy pace; EM = Easy-moderate pace; M = Moderate pace; and W = Walk, but I wasn’t in the mood for walking. Instead, I picked up the pace. I covered just about 4 miles.
After my treadmill workout, I pumped some iron. I think I’m going to be sore after that CNW workout!
Dinner
For dinner this evening, I met Brittany and Sarah at Legal Harborside:
Legal Harborside is Legal Sea Foods’ 20,000 square foot flagship property on the Boston Waterfront, comprising three floors and three different concepts under one (retractable) roof. You’ll find a nod to our heritage on the first floor hull, with a casual menu of seafood favorites with a twist, an oyster bar and an old-fashioned fish market. The second floor dining room offers cuisine prepared with sensible creativity for celebratory eating and private dining events. And those that visit the third floor promenade deck will enjoy an all-weather rooftop lounge with a retractable glass roof and walls for cocktails and bites. All aboard!
Legal Harborside is located right on the Boston waterfront and it is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. I’m already planning a trip back with Mal very soon!
It was a Monday night and pouring rain outside, but the place was still packed! Thankfully, we had a reservation, so we had no problem getting a table.
To start, we ordered a round of Skinny Piña Coladas, which were made with Bacardi Rock Coconut, coconut water, and pineapple juice. It was the best drink ever. For real. I never would have thought to add coconut water to a cocktail, but this one was amazing”” light, refreshing, and, oh, so tasty.
As an appetizer, the three of us shared an order of grilled pita chips with Roasted Sweet Pepper and Kalamata & Fig spreads. Both were excellent, especially the Kalamata & Fig spread, but, then again, I love anything with fig in it!
For my entrée, I ordered one of the starters: Buffalo Shrimp with avocado, blue cheese, and celery hearts. Oh my gosh, I loved everything about this dish. I mean, tempura shrimp with buffalo sauce and blue cheese? Sign me up!
I knew the portion would be kind of small, so I ordered a side of sautéed spinach with pine nuts and raisins. I ended up adding it to the buffalo sauce mixture and eating it with the leftover blue cheese crumbles. Yum.
It was so nice to spend time with Brittany and Sarah! As always, we had lots to chat about.
It’s way past my bedtime! Good night!
