What I’m Loving Lately 106

Hi, guys!

Woah. What a whirlwind week. I feel like it was crawling by so slowly, but now it’s Friday. I feel like Wednesday and Thursday happened in a flash!

Mal is on April break next week, so we’re kicking it off with a little happy hour action before we pick up Quinn from school this afternoon. We’re both heading out of town for trips to Atlanta – me this weekend, him next weekend – but other than that, we don’t have much planned for his vacation. I’m usually antsy to do something when Mal is off from school, but I’m very much going to embrace some downtime with my family next week.

So, it’s Friday and you know what that means: It’s time for the next edition of What I’m Loving Lately!

Our new Berkey Water Filter – We seriously couldn’t have been more excited when this thing arrived in the mail. We spent weeks and weeks researching the best water filters because we were pretty specific about what we wanted. We didn’t want a pitcher filter (like a Brita) or one that attached to our sink because we’d need to get a whole new faucet and we just didn’t want to replace it. There actually aren’t a ton of stand-alone water filters on the market, so we had a little trouble finding quality options…. until I crowd-sourced on Instagram Stories for recommendations. And, guys, I can’t even tell you how many people (enthusiastically) responded about the Berkey. I must have received close to 100 messages from Berkey fans! After such a positive response, I knew which one we needed to get. We ended up getting the Big Berkey, which holds 2.25 gallons of water and so far it’s been great. It was easy to set up, and you only have to replace the filters every 6 months, so it’s pretty low-maintenance. Our water tastes delicious, and Quinn is obsessed with the Berkey because he can serve himself whenever he wants. And, my gosh, he’s drank a lot of water lately – maybe too much! 😉

Foods for Hormone Balance With Magdalena Wszelaki– Great episode from the Wellness Mama podcast about hormones, including some helpful info about seed cycling and a Guide to Seed Rotation for Hormone Balance. Now, I really want to grow broccoli sprouts and buy Magdalena’s Cooking for Hormone Balance book! It seems like there are some really awesome recipes inside. Need!

Natori True Natori T-Shirt Convertible Underwire Bra – I already own this bra in both black and cashmere. I love them so much, I just bought a couple more for spring/summer from Zappos to add to my collection. There’s free shipping both ways, which means you can try the bra on at home and send it back if it doesn’t fit!

Protein Chia Pudding – I’m obsessed! I think I ate this just about every day this week. It’s so easy to make and absolutely delicious! 🙂

Veggies and cottage cheese – Another new favorite snack – veggies dipped into cottage cheese! Nutritious, delicious, and super satisfying!

Allbirds shoes – Have you guys heard about these? I feel like I am so out of the loop, but I definitely need a pair in my life. My friend Lucie was raving about them the other day, so I looked them up online: LOVE THEM! Allbirds makes both women’s and men’s shoes, and Mal’s birthday is actually next month, so I’m thinking about buying him this pair.

Mediterranean Polenta Cups – These look delicious, nutritious, and easy to make!

Question of the Day

What’s up for the weekend?

I’m off to Atlanta for a hormone certification. I seriously can’t wait!!

  1. Love our berkey! The black filters don’t need to be changed very often…depending on use, those could last your five years! However the optional fluoride and arsenic filters do need to be changed every six months 🙂

  2. So happy for the weekend but not super excited about the weather Sunday…WTF New England! My sister and I tried SoulCycle last weekend and we’re going back this weekend – not sure how I feel about it yet. Definitely a workout but it made me feel sore in all the wrong places, and it wasn’t the good kind of sore.

  3. I’m VERY interested in that water filter. Phoenix water has so many horrible things in it and I am to the point where I’m tired of buying cases of plastic water bottles, especially working from home it would be convenient to have something like that. Definitely checking it out, but worried it won’t filter things out enough here.

  4. Allbirds are the best! I bought my first pair this year and they are seriously the most comfortable shoe you’ll ever own. Feel like slippers!

  5. Allbirds are amazing! I have a pair and I’m so happy the weather is nicer up here in NH because I can wear them all the time again. They have held up well for the year I’ve had them but I didn’t wear them out much this winter with all the snow we had. I’m planning to purchase my second pair soon, the red is an amazing color.

  6. We are on the same wave length! I am just getting into sprouting, I have a Berkey that I am obsessed with and I love, love, love my Allbirds shoes. Crazy! (also, thanks for the broccoli sprouts tip–I need them in my life!)

  7. aah that conference sounds so interesting! cannot wait to hear about it…have a great time and gain ALL the knowledge 🙂

my friend and her husband are obsessed w/ all birds…she definitely has me considering getting pair. so go for it!

  8. We just added a reverse osmosis filter to our house and I love it! Just wanted to mention, because I didn’t even think about it when I bought it – I ran it by my dentist and he did say that kids should drink tap water because of the fluoride. Not sure if yours filters it out, but thought I’d share.
