I’m as Surprised as You Are

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Guys, I took a yoga class yesterday! (I know, I’m as surprised as you are!)

And it was 60 minutes long!

AND I didn’t leave midway through due to boredom! 🙂

I’m generally not a fan of yoga, but I kind of liked the class that I took yesterday and might even go again. We did a few stretches that I definitely needed, so it might be motivation to keep with it. My upper back and hips are insanely tight – to the point where they’re bothering me while doing everyday activities, like walking, sitting, bending, etc., which is just not good for someone who is only 38 years old. Ugghh, getting old it hard.

Anyway, after yoga class and playtime at the YMCA with Quinn, we headed to Blend, a new smoothie/shake shop in South Weymouth. I saw a post about it on Instagram the other day, so I wanted to see what it was all about.

Blend was super cute inside and the employees were all really nice. The shakes were DELICIOUS, but the ingredients were just okay, so it was more of a treat. (They’re made from Herbalife products.) Quinn and I shared a birthday cake shake with sprinkles, which we both loved. We’ll definitely visit again!

The hospital was basically right next door to Blend, so Quinn and I popped into the outpatient lab, so I could have blood drawn for MORE tests. I’m still coughing up phlegm every day (it’s quite glamorous), and all of the tests we’ve done so far have said zero about what is causing it. Hopefully, this round of testing will tell us something. Quinn was super patient during our visit, so the nurse gave him a couple of Ninja Turtle stickers, which he was beyond excited about! 🙂 He actually brought them to school today to share with his best bud, Blake.

After that, we headed to the library to return books and pick out new ones. We also got a DVD, which is Quinn’s newest obsession. He loves perusing the DVDs at the library. He doesn’t quite understand that pretty much all of them are on Netflix or Hulu – he just thinks they’re super cool! Thankfully, Mal’s Playstation (?) plays DVDs. Do people even own DVD players nowadays?

After a busy morning, we headed home for lunch. On the menu for me: Salmon Caesar Salad – basically, canned salmon on top of mixed greens with Primal Kitchen Caesar Dressing. Lunch doesn’t get easier than this! 🙂

I also had a piece of avocado toast with Everything But the Bagel Seasoning. Delish!

Question of the Day

What are your thoughts about yoga? Love it? Hate it? Boring AF? 🙂

Do you own a DVD player?

  1. Glad you agree with me about the Blend ingredients. I have been once and agree yummy was told Herbal life and was told soy based and have not been back.

  2. I love that dressing!

I have been thinking I am crazy with illnesses-hoping my DR and husband dont think I am a crazy as well. I am not sure if you have heard of him, but I finally! discovered the Medical Medium (on instagram, FB, podcast). He talks alot about how we have hidden viruses that go undetected by test. HE has alot of wonderful info on how and what to eat to start healing and getting rid of symtpoms. I FINALLY have asnwers after about 10 yrs of strange offset illnesses and side effects that never made sense. Now they do. He does talk alot abut gut health and how if not treated and we continue to eat the wrong foods, our gut creates exta mucus. Hope you find the cuase soon.

  3. I love that dressing!
Have you heard of Medical Medium? I finally have and at last! after 10 yrs of strange symptons and illness I KNOW why! EBV-can cause so many syptoms one being gut issues that can cause extra mucus.
He talks about how Drs prescribe antibiotics (bcuase they dont realize its virus over bacterial) however those only feed the virus and make it stronger.
If you havent checked him out yet, you should!
Can find him on Insta & Podcast.
Hope you find what is causing your symptoms.

  4. I love yoga but I only go every couple weeks! I was aiming for weekly and was thinking that I was going pretty much every week over the summer but then I got an email that the 10 class pass I bought had 3 classes left before it expired. It was good for 6 months.
I’m so not jacked or anything (although I’m kinda aiming for bigger and stronger) but my fave instructors and I will joke that I need to go more ’cause I’m they’re favorite muscle bound bodybuilder. 😉 Lifters need yoga! Or at least much more stretching than I usually do.

  5. I’m sure you have already invested this cause but my friend had a persistent cough and it turned out to be auto-immune related. She went through all sorts of testing for two years before they determined a cause. I hope you get some answers soon!!

  6. We receive movies through Netflix in the mail and watch them on a computer that still has a slot for DVDs 🙂 We live way out in the country where WiFi is slow and cell service is iffy.

  7. It makes me laugh you asked about the DVD player because I still have a few of my childhood VHS tapes (Mary Poppins, Aladdin, etc) and our daughter is dying to watch them! We don’t even know if we still have a VCR and if we did we aren’t sure how to hook it up to a modern TV, haha. So my husband instead took her to rent a DVD instead 🙂
I have the same problem with Yoga – I know it’s something I should be doing for my body, but I have always found it SO BORING!

  8. Hi Tina
Have you tried hot yoga? I thought I would hate it because of the humidity. I loved it. Helps my angry desk hips.

  9. You may have already heard of him, but the medical medium (google him and his website will come up right away) talks a lot about mystery illness and how to solve it naturally. It’s a little bit of a strange concept so you have to be open to that aspect of it, but there are so many testimonials that make me believe it’s true. I’m only three weeks in so only time will tell, but I figured it was worth mentioning. Good luck!

  10. I still have a BlueRay player and we do use it every now and then. We axed cable last year to save money and couldn’t be happier. It’s gotten so expensive and even Hulu is getting up there now. Hope you get that cough figured out soon!
