I Finally Like My Skin Care Routine

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Good morning!

I feel like I’ve finally figured out my skin care routine, so I wanted to share it with you guys. I’ve tried so many products over the years, but I always felt like I was looking for the next best thing. Well, the products that I am using right now are so awesome, I just had to tell you about them. They’re also quite affordable and last a really long time, so you definitely get your money’s worth. That said, here’s my current skin care routine and why I like it so much!

SAM_3668 (1024x683)

Belli Fresh Start Pre-Treatment Scrub – I fell in love with this scrub when I was pregnant, and I still continue to use it. It’s suppose to prepare your skin for other Belli products, but I use it as an exfoliating scrub almost daily. It’s made with green tea extract, ginseng, and peppermint oil, so it’s rich in antioxidants and refreshing. It’s also great as a body scrub. It leaves my skin so soft!

Andalou Naturals Age-Defying Hyaluronic DMAE Lift and Firm Cream  I love Andalou Naturals because they are all-natural and free from gluten, GMOs, parabens, preservatives, sulfates, phthalates, and animal cruelty. They’re also really affordable. (Related: I am not affiliated with Andalou Naturals in anyway. My esthetician tipped me off to their products awhile back, and I’ve been hooked ever since.) This cream is super moisturizing and helps diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, fade hyperpigmentation, and improve the overall texture of your skin. I use it before bed every night and love it. Alternative: There are some similar products from the Dr. Jart skin care line which lift and firm.

Alba Botanicals Papaya Enzyme Facial Mask  I love this mask and it’s so affordable! I used to spend a lot of money on enzyme masks when I got facials, so I finally bought one to use at home. This one uses green papaya and pineapple enzymes to loosen/dissolve dull surface cells and impurities to revitalize the overall tone and texture of your skin. (It’s great for all skin types!) I use it a couple of times per week and love the results.

Andalou Naturals Meyer Lemon Creamy Cleanser – This cleanser is the best. It’s intended for normal combination skin and it’s soooo creamy. It’s not drying at all and leaves my skin clean, soft, and refreshed. The bottle will also last you forever– just a pea-size amount with lather up like crazy! I use this cleanser morning and night to wash my face.

Andalou Naturals Fruit Stem Cell Revitalize Serum with Resveratrol Q10  Especially after this summer, I have quite a few sunspots and hyperpigmentation, so I use this serum every night (under the Lift and Firm Cream) to help even out my skin tone.

Pevonia Botanica Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30 (not pictured) – This product is technically a sunscreen, but I use it everyday as a face moisturizer. It works great and feels so nice when applied.

Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum – If you look on Amazon, this product has nearly 3,000 reviews and almost 5 stars. It’s an awesome product that improve skin texture and brightness with some serious moisture that plumps up and diminishes the look of fine lines and wrinkles. I actually see a difference in my skin when I use it versus when I don’t. I apply this serum under my daily SPF. This product is vegan, paraben-free, oil-free and has no dyes, no fragrances or fillers.

Radiance Platinum Tea Tree Oil  This is the newest product in my skin care routine. I reviewed it on CNC a couple of weeks ago, but what I like most about it is that it helps clear up pimples without drying out my skin.

RapidLash – Ok, this isn’t skin care, but I use it morning and night when I apply these other products. I LOVE RapidLash so much! (You’ve probably heard me mention it several times on CNC now!) I’ve used it for quite awhile now and it does amazing things for my lashes.

Questions of the Day

What products are part of your skin care routine? How many skin care products do you use on the regular?

  1. I’m very interested in dermatology so I love seeing what other people like to use! Thanks for sharing! 😀 How great you’ve found a skincare routine that works for you. I feel like women can spend a lifetime before they find whats best! Since you’re clearly into natural products, you can try castor oil on your eyelashes to promote growth! I can’t speak for it as I’ve only just started applying it nightly myself, but I’ve heard great things! So I’m hopeful 🙂

  2. I recently started using Rodan and Fields Unblemish and like it so far. I thought I remembered you using R&F products too, may I ask what you thought of those? I’m still looking for the next best thing for me, too!

  3. I use witch hazel to cleanse my skin and argan oil to moisturize it. I use to have acne prone skin and then I realized I was drying it out…the argan oil has helped tremendously!

  4. I’ve found that my best skin care routine is really basic- mineral oil to remove all my makeup, cerave foaming to wash my face, and trader joes moisturizer. I also add a sunscreen during the day. I used to add tons of products and couldn’t figure out why I was always breaking out. Turns out less is more for my skin (and a lot cheaper)

  5. I use all Ava Anderson Non-Toxic products, and couldn’t be happier with my skin. It’s awesome having a successful routine.

  6. Any idea if the Andalou products are safe while breastfeeding? I’ve been looking for something anti-aging for months, but I’m still breastfeeding and everything has retinol in it.

  7. I am still trying to find out my regime. Since moving down to San Diego my skin has definitely been affected. I have so many more freckles and I am soon dark. I’ll definitely try some of your recommendatuons. Right now I am open to try anything!

  8. I am totally on board the tea tree oil train. I just discovered it over the summer and it totally clears up my pimples too…like almost overnight! I love that it is natural too 🙂

  9. Thanks for sharing! I don’t have a good skincare routine and I have been wanting to figure something out that I can be consistent with. Its so hard to know where to start and what products to try. So this is great! 🙂

  10. I started using some of the Andalou products based on your earlier recommendation – the lift and firm cream and the fruit stem cell serum. I love them both and can really tell a difference in my skin! Actually just bought the Andalou Naturals Luminous Eye Serum Brightening and love it too! As I run out of my other products I’ll be replacing them all with these. Thanks for the recos 🙂

Oh, and I was using Nerium for a while (a friend was selling it), and while I saw a difference for a little while, I see more with the Andalou products which are a LOT cheaper (and better for my skin!).

  11. After trying SO MANY products for acne (and Im a grown up…ridiculous) I finally figured mine out too! For the last year I have used Aveeno natural daily moisturizer and mix it with Jojoba oil. LIFE CHANGER. I finally LOVE my skin!

  12. I use plain coconut oil to cleanse my face at night. It leaves my skin so soft and takes my eye makeup off like a champ!

  13. This is awesome! I’ve kind of been struggling to find a good routine and feel like I waste a lot of money on products that don’t work. I’m all about things that are not full of crap and are affordable! If you had to choose between buying one of the two serums which do you feel is more effective? Thanks this was a super fun post!

    1. It depends what you want to use them for. One is for uneven skin tone/hyperpigmentation and the other is for fine lines. I have issues with both, so I use one in the morning and one at night. They’re both awesome products, so you can’t go wrong!

  14. I’m loving Beauty Counter right now. I started using the line last month and although it is really expensive, I really, really like it. I’ve never used an oil before and I’m enjoying trying something new. Glad you’ve found what works for you. Lots of these products sound awesome. xo

  15. I love Andalou face masks – especially the BioActive 8 Berry Fruit Enzyme Mask. The Avo Cocoa Skin Food Mask is great too but it smells like a melted chocolate bar which is good but it makes you super hungry! 🙂

  16. I have a feeling that i am a LOT older than you all are…did you know we seniors still can break out with a few pimples? There are some things that never go away!
Anyway, for many years i relied on Serious Skin Care glycolic face wash to keep pimples gone and banish blackheads. (I still have some.) The last few years my skin has changed a lot…the oil is gone, but still have to deal with pores and the occasional zit, but now have crinkles and a few mild wrinkles, which I could do without! Oh, and roseacia.
I have tried several skincare lines on TV shopping channels, and found that no one is totally “it” for me. Also tried a couple of infomercials with celeb promoters,
    but they all went back.
I am going for ones w/o the parabens and other stuff that are supposed to be bad for your skin, and I did buy some coconut oil (organic) which says it is for both beauty & cooking, but have not tried it yet.
I was not blessed with my grandmother’s porcelain, clear skin…she used Ivory Soap and Johnson’s Baby Oil all of her life, and received many compliments on her beautiful skin! Needless to say, it did not work for me. Sigh.
So I shall trudge onward, trying something until I have that “Eureka!” moment.

  17. For a long time, i didn’t wear makeup on a regular basis and so, didn’t know how to apply or really what to do. I’d use a little cleanser and moisturizer and that would be it. But just realized how much fun it is to do makeup and I see the importance of taking care of my skin properly. I’ve even started my own Avon business. I’d really appreciate if you would check out my site at https://karenwright.avonrepresentative.com

  18. Thank you so much for this post! I’m in my early 20s and just starting to notice how much the sun has affected the skin tone on my face. I just bought most of these so I can jumpstart my skincare routine (which now consists of cleanser and moisturizer, nothing fancy).

  19. I recently discovered tea tree oil also and it’s amazing! I get cystic acne and have seen a dermatologist about it many times- she always prescribes medication I don’t like taking or too many skin products I just won’t keep up with. Tea tree oil has changed my life!

  20. Have you tried any of Andalou’s other products? I just ordered the lemon face wash on your recommendation and am intrigued by this company!

  21. Your skin care collection is so new to me and sounds amazing as well. I think I got something interested here. Adalou Naturals Hyaluronic DMAE Age Defying Cream is kinda similar to my recent night cream, Juice Beauty Nutrient Moisturizer. Also, I like your Alba Botanicals Papaya Enzyme Facial Mask because I love all natural fruity things.
Thank you so much for sharing this great post

  22. I really got such a great post from your website. I find all the use full article from you. I really enjoyed your website while reading it. I have used your products and it was remarkable and their result was so awesome. My skin becomes so smooth and shiny. I like your all the products. Thank you
