5 Things That Have Dual Meaning In My Life

This post is brought to you by Ricola® Herb & Throat drops as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars. #swissherbs

Ricola Dual Action Honey Lemon are a multi-symptom cough drop from Ricola that provide relief for coughs and sore throats, all in one drop. They’re a unique blend of Swiss alpine herbs, natural menthol, and a soothing lemon syrup center that help sooth multiple cold symptoms at once. Like many things in life, these cough drops serve two purposes, so I thought it would be fun to share this everyday duality in a blog post. That said, here are 5 things that have dual meanings in my life!

Dirty laundry – Now that we have a child, I’m doing even more laundry on a regular basis. Of course, this is not entirely a bad thing. I mean, it’s more work for me, but it also means that our family is active and goes on lots of fun adventures together, which I wouldn’t trade for the world. A little extra dirty laundry is totally worth it!

Locking us in” – Every night before bed, I make sure to lock all of our doors, and I can’t sleep until I know every single one is secured. I’ll even get out of bed to double-check! Making sure that we’re “locked in” at night might mean I have to stop what I’m doing, but it allows me to sleep better knowing that my family is safe and sound inside our house.

My health – Sometimes, I’m a total hypochondriac about my health, but I should know better by now. Take last week, for example. I’ve had a persistent dry cough for a few weeks now, so I started Googling (gahhh, I know better!) and discovered it’s a possible side effect of a medication that I’m taking. I immediately started to worry, which then turned into “the sky is falling” and the worst case scenario. Fortunately, my husband calmed me down by pointing out that my son was recently sick with a similar cough. Phew. I knew he was right, so I took a Dual Action Honey Lemon (available in stores this October) to sooth my sore throat and cough, which both my husband and I were especially thankful for. I’ve kept him up with coughing fits in the middle of the night on more than one occasion, so now I keep water and a few Ricola on my bedside table for easy access. I love how these cough drops give me relief from both coughs and sore throats, so it feels good on my throat while putting a stop to my coughing fits.

Saving money – I both love and hate saving money. I’m always worried about it, so I’m constantly squirreling it away and planning for the future. Saving money means that I need to be more conscious of how we spend as a family right now, but, down the road, I know it’ll be worth it since we’ll have a bigger savings account and feel more financially secure.

Odd numbers – Oh, odd numbers. How I love you so. I’ve written about my obsession with odd numbers a few times on CNC in the past, especially when it comes to my race bibs. I always gear-up for race day by taking extra good care of myself and often add Ricola to the mix. I like to have it on hand just in case I feel a cold or cough coming on. I’ll even use an odd number of cough drops to give me some extra luck on race day! Is that weird?

As you can see, life can be full of double meanings and purposes, which often makes you think about things from different angles. So when it comes to cold symptoms, it makes a lot of sense to look for a cough drop that combats multiple symptoms at once. Ricola Dual Action Honey Lemon have everything you need, all in one drop, to relieve scratchy coughs and sore throats, so you can feel better faster.

  1. I love odd numbers as well! I am neurotic about checking the locks before going to bed, making sure the garage door closes, and putting dishes in the dishwasher and not leaving them in the sink.

  2. I am with you on the locks and saving money – I actually hate to spend money! We had to buy a new car the other week and I swear if you could have taken my blood pressure at that moment it would have been through the roof!
Another one of mine is that I have to check the news in the morning when I get up and before I go to bed (at least) – I always want to know what is going on in the world!

  3. This post was HILARIOUS lol LOVED IT. lol I cannot have my food touching on my plate. Nope. My father in law makes terrible fun of me about this lol especially at Thanksgiving but I cant do it! lol So gross

  4. I wish I were neurotic about laundry…I’m the exact opposite. I have enough clothing that I can go a month without washing anything…because I’m lazy. I hate laundry.

Also, I know the dangers or googling symptoms. Just don’t do it. Easier said than done. Hope you feel better now though!! <3

  5. I have the same obsession with the doors and making sure their locked lol, I definitly get the obsessiveness from my anxiety. You actually wrote this post with perfect timing, I feel more “normal” now lol.

  6. Glad to see I’m to the only one who has gotten out of bed to double-check that the doors are locked and garage door closed! Other neuroses I have are if I am out shopping and have only one item in my hand at the time I’m ready to leave, I put it back because I don’t want to go through the effort of buying only one item. I also hate when anyone tries to touch me when I am sweaty gross during or after a workout; I’m particular about how the dishwasher is loaded (so now my husband won’t do it); and I hate toothpaste ‘stains’ left in the sink. 🙁

  7. I am right there with you on your last habit –> it is always a sad day when food is wasted away! Which may be why I have become an avid and strict meal planner……
