Games Everyone Else Likes to Play

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Good morning! Happy Monday Tuesday! Here’s a little motivation to start your day off on the right foot!

Do the thing you fear most

This quote applied really well to yesterday’s CrossFit WOD. I’ve always been afraid of the 53-pound kettlebell (that ish is heavy!), but thanks to some encouragement from Mal and Kerrie (c’mon, you can do it!), it’s no longer (as) intimidating to me. I managed to do my very first WOD (besides farmers’ carries) with a 53-pound kettlebell! I still can’t believe I survived all 150 unbroken Russian kettlebell swings!

85% of 1RM for all sets; 3-4 warm up sets.

After CrossFit, I came home and refueled with a protein shake made with a new (to me) protein powder that GNC sent me to try. It’s their Pro Performance AMP Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 in Cookies & Cream flavor. Yes, that’s right, Cookies & Cream flavor, and it’s delicious. I mixed it with water and almond milk.

Over the weekend, I planned to go to CrossFit on Saturday morning, but when I saw the warm-up on the website, I decided to skip class and take Murphy to the dog park and go for a run instead. The warm-up was”¦ dodgeball.

Ok, I’m sure it would have been fun, especially with the people at our box. We play “musical medballs” as a warm-up and it’s always a good time, so I’m sure I would have had a blast, but the thought of having people throw balls at me for fun brought me back to playing dodgeball in elementary and middle school. Ugh. I know you guys know what I’m talking about”¦ getting that plastic red ball whapped in your face or smack on your back so it left a big red mark? It felt awesome, right? I always cringed when the gym teacher told us dodgeball was on the agenda for class. I’d stand in the back and pray that none of the boys whipped the ball at me. Haha! I love old memories like this!

Anyway, avoiding dodgeball at my box the other day reminded of me of other games that lots of people like to play, but I just don’t. On my list: volleyball (I’m terrible at it, and I always end up with bright red, sore forearms. I sound like such a wuss!) and Charades (I can’t act for the life of me, and I hate being the center of attention, so it stresses me out!).

Health News & Views

I love to exercise, but I’m not always motivated to work out, especially in the middle of winter. It’s cold and dark and snowy, so leaving my nice warm house (or couch) is usually the last thing I want to do for a workout.

Of course, at the beginning of a new year, my motivation to exercise is at its peak, but as the weeks progress and the winter begins to wear on me, my desire to break a sweat really starts to weaken. Instead of getting down on myself and giving up on my health goals, here’s what I do to veer back on course.

Question of the Day

What game(s) do other people love to play, but you just don’t?

P.S. You still have time to enter my giveaway to win a pair of BlueBud X Wireless Headphones! I’ll pick two winners this afternoon!

  1. I totally understand your dodgeball hatred. I never liked it, or any other team sports, at school. I grew up a dancer and always felt out of place in sports.

  2. I hate the game Settlers of Catan, but somehow I am always being dragged into it. The damn thing last for HOURS, and I always win without trying. Hate hate hate it.

  3. Of yeah–dodgeball screams elementary, middle, and high school! We used to play all the time, but then the administration said it was “too violent” and condoned bad messages or something, so we stopped when I was in 10 grade I think. Even though I loved gym class, I hated playing football–I couldn’t throw a spiral to save my life!
