Hi, guys! Happy Labor Day to you!

I hope you are relaxing and enjoying time with family and friends. We’re getting our lives in order today because we’re officially back-to-school tomorrow – followed by 2 weeks of utter madness. I’m off to Des Moines later this week, home for one day, and then off to Santa Barbara for 4 days. It’s going to be quite the whirlwind!

If you missed my Instagram Live on Thursday, I’ve shared it below for your viewing pleasure. Please let me know what you think of these videos – do you like them? Do you watch them? Are they helpful? I’d love to hear your feedback!

  1. I love that you do these videos but I always have such a hard time watching them. They don’t show up even after reloading without ad blockers.

  2. Happy Labor Day! Longtime reader here with a short comment that I wish you had personal written posts still. I come here to read, not watch a video. In fact, with my lifestyle I would need a certain environment to watch a video, which I just don’t have in the time I would be clicking on your site. Wonder if I’m the only one. Genuinely interested in your topics of discussion but can’t watch a video during my morning. Bummer

    1. @Terry: I agree. I honestly don’t watch these videos and have unfollowed some blogs that do these often. I find it hard to follow and stay interested with videos.

    2. @Terry: Same here too, I read from my cubicle at work, no video watching ability, and once I get home from work, rarely a minute to “watch”. Reading is much easier to sneak in! The few I’ve watched have good content, but I just rarely actually get to watch them.

  3. Would love to hear your review on the DUTCH test as my doctor prescribed the standard saliva but I’m not sure if Dutch is a better option.

  4. I ‘ve read your blog for years. I prefer to read vs. watching on video. I will continue to read as long you offer this format. I do not see that the video format will fit my needs.

  5. To be honest, I’m disappointed that so many of my favorite bloggers are moving to audio and video formats. I read blogs because I want to read, and usually before bed, so all of the content posted on Instagram stories or whatever is totally missed. And as someone who avoids most social media, I don’t use Instagram at all. I may be the only one though!

  6. I do not like the videos! I much prefer to read a blog…I too find it disappointing that many bloggers think that we READERS would like to become watchers.

  7. I love the videos! I didn’t know if you could put times of when each topic starts (podcasts do this) Just a thought

  8. I watch them every week because i can’t always catch them live. I love a mix of blog and videos. You could also podcast these 🙂

  9. Long time reader from back in the healthy living blog heyday and I hate to say but I hate the videos 🙁 there just isn’t a convenient time to watch them… I read blogs before bed or while in a waiting room or something so I can’t use sound. I wish you would post a transcription so I can read because the topics do sound interesting! Only reason I am giving feedback is because you asked- I never post an opinion- your blog your content!

  10. I’m just so curious what brings you to Des Moines? I have read your blog for years since beginning I was thrilled that you weren’t going to be in my area!

  11. agreed with the video comments… I have been just skipping them, but I was vaguely interested as a crossfitter with an autoimmune disease (MS). I don’t think I’ll get the chance to pull up my IG to watch, tho…

  12. i can’t watch videos where i live in northern vt because we must pay for bandwidth….if you could publish a text i’d read that. i love reading your blog. highlight of my day.

  13. I enjoy the videos. I tend to listen to stories/podcasts while I do boring chores so it fits into my life well. I still also enjoy reading blogs. So I guess I’m happy with whatever. 😀

  14. I don’t watch the videos because I often read at work on my breaks and I cant play the sound. I like the reading aspect of blogs not watching a video.

  15. Hi Tina – Love catching your live instagram stories but honestly, when I come to the blog I want something I can read. Typically it’s a quick work break for me and I cant turn the audio on, so I never watch them.

  16. I don’t watch the videos either for the same reason as many – I check blogs at work and can’t listen in the open area. I also find videos a little harder to watch (not yours, just in general). I tend to skim over topics I don’t have a huge interest in to get to what I’m most interested in. 🙂

  17. Long time reader but first time commenter Being hearing impaired I am definitely on team read as it is too hard to ‘keep up’ lip reading through an entire video. All the topics you have videoed have been super interesting and I’ve been disappointed not being able to hear/read your perspective on them.
I’ll keep coming back but would love to see you shift back to more readable content on the blog.

  18. Please less video I can’t find chance to watch no matter how interesting the topic seems. Reading is much better for absorbing the facts/ material. Thanks!
