Good morning and happy Friday to you!
The weekend is almost here, which means it’s time for another Friday favorite: What I’m Loving Lately! Let’s dive right in, shall we?
Cubbies – Oh, how we love Cubbies! They are seriously the best thing ever. They’re a fleece shirt with mittens attached by zippers, so they stay put on your little one’s hands. (There’s also the option of removing them too.) The shirt is designed to be worn under a winter jacket, but it was so warm lately, Quinn’s worn it by itself. Best invention ever. FYI: Cubbies are on sale right now and you can get FREE SHIPPING with code “CNCFS” at checkout.
Netflix maternity leave – Netflix offers a year of fully paid maternity leave for mom and her partner. Amazing, right? Just had to share!
Light & Creamy Chickpea Salad with Shredded Brussels Sprouts – I made another batch this week. Mmm!
Making a Murderer – I know, we’re late to the game, but Mal and I binged watched the whole series a couple of weeks ago, and I’m still obsessed. Did anyone see those Making a Murder specials on TV last week? I meant to DVR them, but I forgot.
Can ‘Young House Love’ Escape the Internet? – Super interesting!
Dave’s Killer Thin-Sliced Powerseed Bread – I love this bread so much. It’s so darn tasty, and it has just 60 calories, 3 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber, and 280 mg omega-3s per slice. It’s definitely a great option for those of us watching what we eat and keeping up with our New Years Resolutions!
T-Rex ice skating – I laughed so hard at this video, I literally had tears streaming down my face! That costume!
Skinnies – Tami, a long-time CNC reader, recently sent me some Skinnies. I instantly fell in love with them and the story behind each one. Tami sent me three Skinnies: coffee shop, shred, and raffia. The inner layer of “coffee shop” is made from coffee bags that were sprayed with glitter, and the bags initially came from a local coffee shop. How cool is that? “Shred” is made from old catalog pages and “raffia” is a Full Circle piece (an initiative that pays women around the world fair wages to hand craft the materials used in the jewelry) was made in Nepal. Knowing how each of these bracelets was made makes them so special, and I love showing them off so much. I am definitely going to keep them in mind as future gifts for friends and loved ones!
Fish in a Tin – Kath’s post about sardines was so incredibly helpful to me. I’m trying to get more omega-3s in my diet, and I know sardines are a great source, but, truthfully, I’m kind of scared/grossed out by them. Haha! But, I know Kath loves them and she’s created all sorts of delicious recipes with them, so I asked for her advice and she sent me this post. It’s everything I wanted and more. Now, I just need to EAT those little guys!
elevAte salads – I am totally obsessed with these salads and just needed to mention them again. They’re so convienent, and I love grabbing them as a healthy snack, especially in the afternoon, right before dinner, when I get super snack-y. They’re obviously nutritious, but I really look forward to the dressings. Mmm! They’re light and fresh and don’t leave the salad totally drenched. Again, I’m a huge fan. FYI: elevAte salads are sold nationwide at Walmart as well as some Wegmans, PriceChoppers, and other retailers. And elevAte is giving away a ton of great fitness gear + 4 grand prizes including gym memberships, gift cards, and an Apple watch right now, so be sure to enter for a chance to win!
6 Things I Didn’t Realize Until I Left Boston – Yep, the rest of the country is wicked different.
Some of my favorite cereals are now free of artificial flavors and colors – That’s right! Family favorites like Golden Grahams (I’m on a serious kick lately), Reese’s Puffs, Cocoa Puffs, Trix, and three varieties of Cheerios (chocolate, frosted, fruity) are no longer made with these things. Very cool, right? I love that General Mills listens to feedback from their customers!
