Another month flies by! I think October was the quickest month yet for me. Here are my Top 12 favorite posts from October!
Yesterday afternoon, I headed into Boston for my appointment with my new gastroenterologist at MGH. I drove to the T, parked my car, and then took the train into the city. I don’t trust the MTBA to get me anywhere without an issue, so I always give myself plenty of extra time.
Hi, friends! A bunch of you guys asked for additional details about the Paleo Challenge I’m doing with my CrossFit box. I asked my coaches if I could share some of the specifics on my blog and they agreed, so here they are.
My First DNF (and I’m Totally Okay With It)
For the past two days, I’ve heard non-stop jack-hammering. Mal dislikes the huge rock in our front yard (he thinks it’s annoying to mow around), so we hired some guys to remove it, but it’s turned into a much bigger project than expected. Hence, the non-stop jack-hammering. Of course, Murphy is closely “supervising” the project.
Are you ready for the Plank Challenge? Here are the details! The Plank Challenge is actually really simple. It will take place for a total of 4 weeks (October 22 – November 16) and will only require 10 minutes or less of your time on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week.
I had a little fun in the kitchen baking with protein powder yesterday afternoon. Baking and protein powder? Yep, that’s right. Protein powder is actually a fairly versatile ingredient! I wanted to make something delicious, but also semi-healthy and satisfying to eat before or after a workout.
Crispy Curried Sweet Potato Coins
YUM! I loved, loved, loved today’s lunch. It included a bunch of Crispy Curried Sweet Potato Coins! Lunch also included a couple of leftover Spiced Mini Burgers from last night’s dinner.
Good morning! Happy Friday and happy National Pumpkin Day! In honor of the day, here are some of my all-time favorite pumpkin recipes!
Army 10-Miler Recap & Post-Race Adventures
Hi, friends! Happy Monday! So, not only did I survive the Army 10-Miler, I PR-ed that bad boy! Booyah! A huge thanks to Anne and Theodora for getting me through it! Bright and early on Sunday morning, Katie and I left her condo to catch the Metro to the race.
Yoga with Martha Stewart at Grand Central Station
Rise and shine, it’s time for yoga with Martha Stewart! My day started bright and early at Theodora‘s apartment. We were both invited to a yoga event with Martha Stewart this morning, so I spent the night on her couch (Theodora‘s not Martha’s) last night.
Put Your Heart Into It and Dance Like Crazy
I’ve partnered with Harvard Pilgrim on this sponsored post, but the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own. You can find more ways to be well at HarvardPilgrim.org/CountUsIn. A couple of months ago, Harvard Pilgrim contacted me to see if I’d be interested in working with them on their “Well-Together Challenge.”
Our Two-Year House Anniversary
Two years ago today, Mal and I officially became homeowners!! I can’t believe two years has flown by so quickly. I also can’t believe we’ve managed to stay in one place for an entire two years.
On Saturday, Mal, Murphy, and I spent a lovely evening at Hotel Marlowe. The folks from Kimpton Hotels invited the three of us for a complimentary stay. I love hotels, so when Kimpton invited me along with Murphy, I was all about it. I love doing fun things with the pug!

Hi Tina !
My favourite of your October blog posts was the one for National Pumpkin Day. I love any and every food that is made with some of the yummy and healthy orange stuff!
For me, the best pumpkin breakfast recipe is Overnight Pumpkin Oats.
All you do is mix up equal parts of pumpkin, slow cooking oats, and low fat greek yogurt. Add to this cinnamon (or pumpkin pie spice), chopped dried cranberries, apples, walnuts and almonds. Leave it overnight and it’s an instant breakfast in the morning!
Thanks for writing such great blog posts
You definitely had a couple posts with some serious comments at the beginning of the month, but I love those because I love to read everyone’s comments, well not the mean ones… Those are just annoying.
I love all the posts, especially the one with Martha doing yoga!! Glad to see she gets out there and just does it, but what can’t that woman do?
Hi Tina, could you post the recipe for pumpkin chocolate chip cookies!
Sounds like a great fall recipe to try!
I think I posted it last Monday. Just search for Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies! 🙂
chocolate chip protein bars… yummm 🙂
So excited about the plank challenge! I had never realized how hard holding a plank for 4 minutes + would be
It’s hard to believe another month has gone by. We celebrated our one year house anniversary this month – time goes by so fast. We still have several house projects on our to do list. I also can’t wait to try your choc chip protein bars – on my “to try” list.
October went by in a flash! It’s almost… next year. Gah!
