We had quite the year this year. We moved into a new house, traveled a bunch (twice to the West coast with a toddler), and enjoyed a bunch of “firsts” as a family of four. (We count Murphy as part of the family!) Basically, we had a full year and we wanted to share and celebrate these moments with family and friends, so we included a few on our holiday cards this year.
Did you happen to notice that our cards are holiday ornaments too? How awesome is that?!
I recently partnered with Shutterfly to create our 2015 holiday cards, and I couldn’t be happier with them. I mean, a holiday card that our family and friends can hang on their Christmas tree (or elsewhere in their home as a holiday decoration)? So cool, right? I’m totally obsessed with this idea, and Shutterfly offers all kinds of unique and personalized cards to help you celebrate and share family updates during this special time of year.
It was so easy to create our cards using our favorite photos from the year on Shutterfly. There were so many fun and creative options to choose from, including a variety of trims, designs, and layouts as well as ornament cards and tri-fold cards that allow you to share even more of your favorite moments from the year.
And (I also really loved this), you can get everything you need to send your cards right from Shutterfly, including personalized return labels and postage. Basically, you can get everything you need in just one order, which makes getting your holiday cards in the mail that much easier.
Ok, let me tell you about our holiday cards! I am really excited about them this year because they’re ornaments, but also because I was able to include three different photos with text from the year, which gives them an extra personal meaning for us.
Front:
On the front of our holiday card is a photo from our annual trip to Newport, Rhode Island. Since 2004, Mal and I have taken a photo together on the lawn of Castle Hill Inn with the ocean in the background and now we include Quinn in our yearly tradition. As you probably remember, our weekend in Newport is one that we look forward to all year long, so it was an easy decision to use this photo for our holiday cards.
Back:
The back of our holiday card features two more special moments from our travels this year. On the left is a photo from the top of Black Butte. It was Quinn’s first hike up a mountain (well, technically, a butte), and he loved it… well, sort of. He initially loved looking around and taking in all the sights, but, by the time we got to the top, he was sound asleep. Haha! All of that fresh Oregon air must have relaxed him!
The photo on the right is from our recent trip to Burlington, Vermont, which was another first for our little family. Mal and I visited Burlington many times over the years, but it was Quinn’s first time. Burlington holds a special place in our hearts, so we wanted to make sure that we celebrated this experience together.
Questions of the Day
Are you sending holiday cards this year? When you do you usually send them out? Before Thanksgiving? After Thanksgiving? Whenever you get them done?
