Say hello to the third trimester!

I can’t believe how much my shape has changed in the past few weeks! And I still have 10 more weeks to go! I can only imagine how huge I’m going to get by then! Haha!

The past few weeks have been really good, but I’m definitely starting to feel the third trimester. I normally have a decent amount of energy throughout the day, but now I feel a little dragged down every once in awhile. It’s funny because I’ll feel like my normal self and have plenty of energy to burn, but then it’s like I’m hit by a truck and need a nap or something. My energy levels are definitely all over the place, but I’m just going with it””taking advantage of those burst of energy and then taking it easy when I need to.

CRAVINGS

I am still loving apples and now applesauce! I can’t get enough of them!

AVERSIONS

Pretty much the same as before, but no new ones.

OTHER SYMPTOMS

Frequent urination: Same as before. I’m still a peeing machine!

Morning sickness: I was finally starting to feel a little bit better at night, but now my nausea is now coupled with a new symptom”¦

Indigestion (and burping): My indigestion usually starts right before I go to CrossFit, which is, um, fun, and continues until I go to bed. I asked my doctor about it the other day, and she says it only gets worse in the coming weeks. Good times. She recommended that I try TUMS, so I bought some yesterday afternoon, and I guess they help a little?

Clear skin: My skin has been awesome lately””zero breakouts, soft and glowing! After dealing with some serious acne in the first and second trimesters, the third trimester is treating me well!

Restless sleep: I had a rough few days of restless sleep during week 28, but I’m starting to sleep better again. Once again, the Snoogle is definitely to thank!

Weight gain:Β At my 30-week appointment on Monday, I had gainedΒ 31 pounds. I am still ahead of the game and have a good feeling I’ll surpass that recommended 35 pounds with flying colors!

WORKOUTS

I’m still trucking along with my CrossFit workouts! Here are my weekly workout recaps from the past three weeks: 27 weeks, 28 weeks, and 29 weeks.

I’m still feeling pretty good and haven’t needed to make any additional exercise modificationsΒ at CrossFit. My energy comes and goes in waves, so I take my workouts day-by-day and take it easy when I am just not feeling it. However, there are still times that I mostly feel like my old self (minus my 30-pound weight vest/”basketball under my shirt”… a stranger actually said that to me the other day). For instance, I finished a couple of CrossFit Open workouts without too many modifications (one I actually did Rx), which was awesome. If you told me I would be doing 185-pound deadlifts and 95-pound cleans during my third trimester, I would have never believed you, so I am more than happy that I have been able to keep up my fitness level.

ADDITIONAL UPDATES

I bought a dress for my baby shower! My sister and I went shopping a couple of weekends ago, and I found a nice dress that is both comfy and flattering. I might even be able to wear it after Baby H. arrives!

We bought furniture for the nursery. All of it came from IKEA (cribΒ and small cube shelf). We still need to buy theΒ dresserΒ since itΒ was sold out when we were there last time.

Mal (and Murphy) put together the crib. Pugs are always so helpful.

Baby Haupert is a movement maniac.

Baby H. is flipping, rolling, and kicking all the time! Sometimes he will move so much, it will stop me in my tracks. I feel like I need to wait for him to get comfortable in there. Haha! My stomach also moves and grooves based on his shifting around, which is cool to watch and, whoa, sooooo sci-fi. Alien baby inside!

My range of movement is shifting.

My belly is finally getting to a point where I notice it in everyday activities. When I sit down and lean forward, it rests on my lap. Standing up after sitting on the floor or even getting out of bed is always an adventure since my center of gravity is so different. I alsoΒ get out of breath doing the smallest things, like putting on jeans or leaning over to tie my sneakers. I actually find it kind of funny. (Mal definitely does!) And I hear it just gets more and more awkward until the baby comes! Haha!

  1. I had horrible issues when I was pregnant… still do now. But I found that a liquid was the best for relieving my reflux – I’d by name brand Mylanta, cherry flavor, and keep it in the fridge to make it tolerable. It was bad enough though I didn’t care what it tasted like.

  2. I had terrible indigestion during my pregnancy, but I didn’t want to use tums all the time. I found out through my natural birth instructor that almond milk works, and it really does!! It kicks indigestion in the bum super quick! Just a suggestion!

  3. I had wicked heartburn when I was pregnant, I found taking a Zantac in the mornjng and before bed more effective than tums. I had a friend who had twins and the only thing that helped her was eating a whole watermelon….every day !

  4. I remember those days.. not so fondly. I ended up gaining 45 pounds during my pregnancy.. but I didn’t take as good of care of myself as you are, so you’ll be fine! Rolling over in bed was a huge workout in itself.. and welcome to no longer controlling what escapes your body ha-ha.. blame it on the baby.

Ps. My heartburn was very mild, and my little man had a full head of hair when he came into this world..

  5. It’s been a LONG time since I’ve been pregnant (like 25 yrs) but I still remember the horrible indigestion. I lived on Tums and remember having to spend the last few weeks of my pregnancy sleeping in our Lazyboy. You look really good and I’m glad you are able to continue with pretty much your normal routine!

  6. After 30 weeks the weight gain slows rapidly…but you will be back to prebaby in no time..ANNNNNNNNNND labor is gonna be a piece of cake since you were this active πŸ™‚

  7. So fun hearin the updates! Be careful w tums though, the calcium component they have can calcify the placenta and they can actually give you rebound reflux, a few hours after taking it. I would try to stay natural of possible, some things: Papaya enzyme tabs (all natural, safe, and helped me a ton w heartburn during pregnancy), pineapple juice, not gettin too hungry (acid increases in anticipation of food…so I just kept eating πŸ™‚ and def careful w spicy and super hot foods. Peppermint relaxes sphincter tone, so stay away, we’re already relaxed when pregnant so we don’t want to worsen it! Can’t wait to hear more, my baby is 11 days old and just the best thing I’ve ever done πŸ™‚

  8. That’s good that your morning sickness has finally gone away (kind of). That must have been so hard to deal with. I’ve heard that the acid issue can be bad. Sorry about that. Hopefully you’ll find something that works to help with it.
Thanks for sharing! Love seeing the pictures to compare!

  9. I was in the Air Force when I was pregnant with my first. I used to have to have my husband get up in the mornings to tie my boots because I couldn’t reach! I also used to creep out all the young single guys in my office when my baby would move around, it was kind of fun πŸ™‚

  10. I had horrible indigestion for the entirety of both of my pregnancies. The only thing that worked, especially at night, was chewing sugar-free minty gum. Try it. It is a miracle.

  11. At least you’re still able to lean over to tie your shoes πŸ™‚ I remember with my first pregnancy when I suddenly couldn’t do that anymore. It was a real “WHOA I am huge” moment! (You just sit and cross your ankle over your opposite knee and then super super awkwardly attempt to tie the laces. That, or wear a lot of flip flops!)

  12. Looking great!!! I’ve had pretty bad indigestion (I had heart burn pre pregnancy), try the tums Smoothies, they’re WAY less chalky and taste so much better!!! I’m currently on the shower dress hunt and it’s not going well (Cue breakdown), I’m bringing my friend with me tomorrow so I don’t go it alone! Glad you found a good one!

  13. I am late on this but just an FYI, that dresser takes and INSANE amount of time to put together. It doesn’t look like it would but it comes with about a thousand pieces. It looks great once it’s done and it’s a great dresser but it will take forever.

  14. Not sure if someone has recommended this already, but try Gaviscon for your heartburn. I developed serious acid reflux/heartburn in college and get it nearly everyday. They are a powdery tablet like tums (and found near them at the store)but tums never worked for me. An added bonus and you won’t believe me until you try them .. they taste like cake batter!! Hope they help!
