Hello, hello!
A friend of mine, who works for the Quincy Chamber of Commerce, asked me if I wanted to feature one of the participating restaurants in their Taste Quincy Restaurant Week on CNC, which starts next week and runs for TWO WEEKS (March 23 – April 3), and I was all about it. A couple of important/awesome details: Lunch 2 for $10, Lunch 2 for $15, Dinner 2 for $20, Dinner 2 for $30 and there are more than 20 restaurants participating.
I had the opportunity to pick any of the 20+ restaurants participating, and I went with one of my very favorites. Truthfully, I knew within seconds where I wanted to eat: Fuji 1546.
When Mal and I lived in Quincy, we used to go to Fuji (or get take-out from there) ALL THE TIME. Now that we live farther away, we hardly ever go, but it’s still our favorite place to get sushi. They have the best Spicy Tuna Maki ever. It practically melts in your mouth. Mmm!
Quinn joined us on our sushi date last night, so we headed to Fuji for an early-bird dinner, which is why the place looks a little dead. But, I assure you, at a normal dining hour, the place is bumping, especially on the weekend. The bar area is a lot of fun too. I spent many late nights there hanging out with friends back in the day.
Dinner started with wine. (I swear, I can’t eat sushi without a glass of white wine. I just love the combo so much. Anyone else?)
And then it was time to order some sushi! Fuji offers all sorts of great appetizers, soups/salads, entrees, desserts, etc., but we were all about the sushi!
Mal and I shared four rolls: Spicy Tuna Maki (obviously) (tuna and cucumber with spicy mayo sauce roll), Spider Maki (crab with avocado, cucumber & tobiko), Dragon Maki (spicy shrimp tempura with avocado, cucumber, and tobiko roll topped with thinly sliced eel and drizzled with unagi sauce), and Fuji Medley (ebi, kanikama, tobiko, unagi rolled and topped with tuna & salmon on the outside).
While we waited, we kept our little peanut entertained with toys and snacks.
Everything we ordered was wonderful– fresh, flavorful, and, oh, so delicious.
The Spicy Tuna Maki was incredible, as always, and the Dragon Maki was definitely something special. I loved all of the different flavors and textures together.
Dining tip: Order the Spicy Tuna Maki. We should have ordered two rolls of it!
All in all, we had a wonderful time dining out at Fuji 1546 last night. Nothing says St. Patrick’s Day like sushi, right?
Local friends: Be sure to check out Taste Quincy and take advantage of the awesome deals over the next two weeks. I’m pretty sure Mal, Quinn, and I will be going out to dinner in Quincy again real soon!
