No couch and DVR for me tonight! I’ve actually had quite an eventful evening!
After work, I met Ali at Healthworks for the Body Pump launch at the Cambridge club. I’ve been waiting months for this day! I LOVE Body Pump, and I can’t even explain how I excited I was for it! Ali must have thought I was nuts!
Healthworks made the Body Pump launch quite an event– complete with decorations, snacks, and raffles.
My Body Pump set-up included a barbell, plates, clips, and a “bench.”
The class kicked my butt! My legs and arms felt like jello by the end. I actually struggled to wash my hair in the shower! It was awesome!!! I can’t wait to go again!
After a speed-shower at Healthworks, I met my friend, Beth, for a wine event at Gordon’s Fine Wine & Culinary Center in Waltham.
Winemaker, Simon Back of South Africa, hosted the tasting at Gordon’s tonight. Simon Back comes from a unique family history for South Africa, dating back to the early 1900’s with his great grandfather emigrating from Lithuania as a refugee to Cape Town. Soon after, he bought a farm and planted a vineyard, now known as Backsberg Estate Cellars.
The Backsberg wine brand is launching in Massachusetts, so our group was among the first in Boston to taste the wines, which I thought was pretty cool! š
The featured wines:
- 2008 Backsberg Sauvignon Blanc
- 2007 Backsberg Chenin Blanc
- 2008 Chardonnay (Kosher)
- 2007 Pinotage (Kosher)
- 2007 Pinotage
- 2006 PumpHouse Shiraz
- 2003 Babylons Toren Red
My favorite wine of the evening was the 2003 Babylons Toren Red, which was a blend of Merlot, Cabernet, and Shiraz. It was smooth and bright with red fruit flavors. Yum! It was a perfect wine for autumn! š
I was starving after Body Pump, so I basically devoured my plate of bread and cheese! It was delicious paired with the wines, but I definitely wolfed it down!
I’m exhausted! And I need to rest-up for my sister’s bachelorette party tomorrow.
Good night, blog friends!
