So psyched!

[rewind to yesterday morning]

I slept in a little, so I threw together a quick breakfast of peanut butter and banana slices on a whole wheat wrap before heading out to run.

My plan was to run 3 miles from my house to our CrossFit box, stretch and work on mobility when I got there, and then run 3 miles home, but it was so frickin’ hot outside, I nixed the second part of my run.

Murphy got to hang out at CrossFit yesterday!

Once Open Gym at CrossFit ended, Mal and I chatted with a couple of our friends (Colleen and Rob). They asked us what we had planned for the rest of day, so we told them we were picking up our new patio set. Mal and I have small cars, so his parents were planning to drive down with their SUV to help us move it. Rob owns a big van for his job, so he offered to help us. Mal and I were actually a little worried about how we’d fit the table, chairs, and umbrella in his parents’ SUV (we figured we’d take multiple trips), so we took our friends up on their offer. It sounded so much easier!

We had about 30 minutes to kill before until the furniture store opened, so the four five of us (Murphy came along for the ride) stopped by Cumberland Farms to get iced coffees.

Can we talk about this?

Please note the hashtag: #icedhoffee! LOL!

Making iced coffee at Cumberland Farm was a lot of fun. You can pick all sorts of flavors to add to it, so I went with amaretto and coconut. Also awesome: it’s just $0.99 for all of the different sizes. What a deal!

With iced coffee in hand, we drove to pick up our new patio furniture.

The guys moved the furniture into the van while the ladies cheered them on.

YAY!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for helping us, Rob and Colleen! We owe ya!

After lunch, Mal and I spent a couple of hours doing yard work. We figured since we were already gross and sweaty from working out, we might as well get it done. Our backyard is coming along nicely!

For lunch, I made a Sweet Potato Quesadilla. (Yes, I’m obsessed with them.)

I also ate a bunch of almonds while I waited for it to cook.

For dinner, Mal’s parents came over for a barbeque””and, of course, to see our new patio set.

On the menu: Blue Cheese Burgers.

Sweet Potato Wedges cooked in coconut oil.

And plenty of condiments. We had 10 different bottles on the table! Ha!

My plate:

While we ate, Murphy chilled on the floor next to the table.

Eventually, he gave up on any of us potentially dropping food.

We ended up sitting outside and chatting well into the evening. The Sweet Potato Wedges were right next to me, so I finished them off.

Fun little Sunday!

Question of the Day

What’s your favorite grill-able food?

  1. Nice patio set! I especially love the chairs – they look comfy. My favorites foods to grill are the traditional hamburgers & hotdogs/sauages, red potatoes and corn on the cob 🙂

  2. I cannot for the life of me get my sweet potato wedges to be crispy!! Every time they come out soggy or burned 🙁

    1. @Jess: Maybe you’re putting too much coconut oil on them? That or crank up the temperature of the oven (since all ovens vary!).

  3. Your deck looks so nice! That’s a great addition to your house.

I really need to try the sweet potato quesadilla. I’ve got a sweet potato at home, so maybe tonight. 🙂

  4. I don’t know if you’ve already answered this but what kind/brand of wraps are those?! They look like they have flax seeds in them! Yummy!

  5. The new patio set looks great! With all the time you guys spend out there, this is going to be so wonderful for the rest of the summer!

Favorite grilled food = probably veggies or chicken breast! A grilled white onion is also one of my favorites–it gets so delicious when it’s slightly charred.

  6. Haha those iced coffee pictures made my day. And thanks for the info on their iced coffee. Question: does it come with creamer already in it or is it black? We have Wawa’s in NJ and their iced coffee is pre-sweetened and has some sort of cream in it. I hate the way it tastes! So wish I could buy it 🙁

  7. What kind of tortillas do you use for your sweet potato quesadillas and your banana/pb wraps??? They look yummy!!!

  8. I love making grilled potato packs. So good!!

I love the idea of an iced coffee bar at which you can pick so many flavors. The #Hoffee made me laugh though.

Cute patio set!! How nice to be able to sit back on your deck in comfy seating and enjoy the mornings/evenings!!

  9. I love your backyard, so cute. My hubby and I live in a condo right now, we miss having a yard but not doing the yard work. Cute patio set, and next time you have a BBQ I’d like an invitation. Our dogs could play! 😉

  10. hee hee #icedhoffee, love me a good funny. My favorite is steak hands down. But I also love grilling up some great veggies, oh yea, and pineapple slices too.

  11. your new patio set is lovely. i’m hoping to put one in my backyard sometime soon. i actually made blue cheese burgers last week & my husband proclaimed, ‘these are the best burgers you’ve ever made!” they really are so very delicious!

  12. I love that pets are welcome at your CrossFit! I agree he should have been used as some sort of workout weight like a doggie sandbag. Your new deck set looks so pretty, congrats on your new home addition. Have a great week Tina.

  13. .99 anysized iced coffee?!?! i’d be all over that!
the hoff…i don’t know why that guy cracks me up, he’s just so ridiculous.

    love your patio set!
