Malapolooza 2009

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

So, Malapolooza wasn’t really Malapolooza this year. Of course, we had a blast, but it wasn’t a day and night full of its usual mayhem.

The day started out like a regular Malapolooza with the appropriate food, beverages, and activities.

I made big batch of homemade sangria.

Holy yum! I drank like a million glasses yesterday!

There was also tons of junk food at Malapolooza!

These chips are like crack– I basically ate half of the bag myself! 😳

And lots of adult beverages! 😉

We fired up the grill with burgers, dogs, veggie burgers, and corn on the cob.

My veggie burger wasn’t very good. It was dry, weird, and just meh. 😕 I ended up eating a hot dog later on.

Malapolooza 2009 was rather different than previous years.

It rained. 😐

But, it didn’t prevent people from having fun!

And drinking a lot!

Eventually, the weather cleared up and Malapolooza took on a whole new vibe… with babies and dogs!

Our friends brought their 15-month-year-old, Riley, to the party! Isn’t Riley the cutest?!?

And, of course, Murphy partied-hardy with the crew. He loved all of the attention!

Our friends’ pug, Ping, also joined the party. I loved having TWO pugs around!

Ping usually doesn’t get along with other dogs, but he and Murphy ended up being good buddies.

The afternoon ended up getting SO HOT and HUMID! Murphy was pooped from all of the excitement.

He eventually passed out in a cool place.

Even though Malapolooza was more low-key than previous years, there was still plenty of debauchery!

All in all, it was a great day!

I think yesterday was probably the last Malapolooza… but who knows? 😉

  1. I just got back from vacation and caught up on all my blog reading. I am glad the summit turned out so well!

Your Murphy pictures make me want a puppy even more than I already do!! He is the cutest and you are catching some really great shots of him!

  2. Those chips really ARE like crack…that is my favorite flavor. I don’t crave chips much but once I get my hands on those, I’m doomed!

I love the picture with Murphy and Riley…it would be cute in black and white. Hope you have a great day!

  3. That picture with Murphy and the baby is too cute. Looks like lots of fun! Love the cheddar and sour cream chips–but I never buy them because I would eat the whole bag!

  4. Aww, yeah — I really hate when the revival of a tradition doesn’t live up to its former (or initial) greatness. And it never really does, does it?! Still looks like a great time, but I feel your disappointment. Damn expectations!…And weather!

  5. What a fun day! Murphy is so dang cute…as is Riley! Seems like the whole east coast is experiencing the same weather. It’s been really humid here in NC, too!

  6. Maybe the party will just morph into a different kind of party as more of your friends have kids. It’s always sad though when traditions change. Looks like a wonderful time. Murphy must be one tired puppy after all that partying!

  7. Malapolooza looks/sounds like way too much fun to end in ’09. Perhaps you could pick up with Tinapalooza for ’10?!

    Murphy is adorable 🙂

  8. What fun! Sorry about the rain but seemed to wrap up an era of Malapoloozas quite nicely 🙂 the sangria looks amazing. Hopefully you can find a new summer tradition for next year!

  9. no need for malapalozza to die out – it just might evolve a little. maybe it will only get bigger and better!

i’ve been feeling old recently (for the first time), but age is just a number. i’m trying to remember that!

  10. Hey Tina!

It looks like you had an amazing time! You and Jenna both were the queens of sangria yesterday!

I finally started my blog yesterday! I hope you will stop by and catch up every once in awhile 🙂 I hope you don’t mind that I added you to my blogroll!

Have a wonderful rest of your weekend!

  11. I was wondering how all this rain craziness was going to effect your fun…glad to see it didn’t really.

BTW you are right…those chips are definitely crack. And that’s why they don’t enter my house 🙂
