It’s been so nice spending time in the “country” at Mal’s parents’ house. I always feel so peaceful and relaxed out here. I actually decided to stay another night instead of going back to Boston this afternoon like I had originally planned. It was a wonderful decision!
I took a mini break from blogging today, so I didn’t snap too many food photos. It was nice to “disconnect” for a little while.
After sleeping in and eating breakfast, Mal, Murphy, and I headed to the park.
At the park, Mal and Murphy practiced walking on a leash. Murphy sort of got it!
The three of us hung around the house all afternoon– playing in the yard, watching a movie (Mal and me) and napping (Muprhy).
At dinnertime, we threw together one of Mal’s favorite meals: Croque Monsieur. We used a recipe from the Food Network, which was fairly easy to make and turned out de-lic-ious!Ā So much cheesy goodness! The recipe called for both Parmesan and Gruyere.
Like the French, we ate our salad after dinner.
And for dessert, I enjoyed coffee ice cream topped with a chocolate peanut butter chip cookie. It was the perfect treat for a warm evening in the country!
My belly is full and I am ready for bed.
See ya for breakfast from the commuter rail! Good night!

Looks like you guys enjoyed a lovely day!
The croque monsieur sandwiches turned out beautifully – I’ve had fantastic ones and sub-par ones, but this one looks superb!
My mom always likes to pretend we’re French and eat the salad after the meal. I never understood why they consume it after though.
Murphy is sooooo adorable!!! He’s the perfect addition to your family:)
What a lovely day! You certainly deserve a break.
My husband LOVES those sandwiches too. I will have to try that recipe.
The country sounds beautiful! I’m glad you decided to stay and enjoy good food and company š
Good luck getting Murphy to walk on a leash! That was a bit of a struggle with my labradoodle. Now he is 90 pounds, though, so I’m glad I worked so hard on the training when he was a a puppy! At least Murphy will always be small enough that you can pick him up when he doesn’t want to walk š
