GAAAH! Work has been absolutely insane today!!! So much was happening all at once and needed to be done ASAP! 😯 I spent the morning “putting out fires,” as they say. The morning did fly by, but I am so happy to finally take a break from all of the madness!

I ate lunch at my desk today, which is never fun to do, but I munched away while catching up with emails and small tasks that didn’t require much brainpower. Today’s lunch was a ham and Dubliner cheese pita with baked cinnamon sweet potatoes, and three Oatmeal Chocolate Peanut Butter cookies. One cookie is missing from the photo because I ate it mid-morning with my coffee. šŸ˜€

Rubies in the Orchard Review

I blew through the Rubies in the Orchard book that the nice people at POM recently sent to me. The author, Lynda Resnick, has had such an interesting (and inspiring) marketing career! I had no clue who this woman was before picking up this book, but it turns out that she is quite the marketing genius— even beyond the POM brand. She and her husband have turned around declining businesses such as The Franklin Mint, Teleflora, and Fiji Water.

I liked this book because it read more like an autobiography than a marketing “how to” book. I appreciated reading the story of a successful business woman as well as the history behind her brands, especially that of POM and Fiji Water since I have enjoyed both of these products over the past few years. Of course, I picked up a number of wonderful marketing suggestions, but nothing that really knocked my socks off. Overall, this was a great personal history of a woman with a fascinating story to tell.

Happy Hour

My friend won a “Happy Hour” at a bar downtown, so I am very much looking forward to a cocktail after work– especially after a day like today! Jeez, Louise!

Happy Thirsty Thursday!

  2. I am reading that same book right now. I am finding it quite interesting, as marketing has always piqued my interest. I’ll report back when I finish it:)
