Hello, hello! I hope your Friday is off to a fabulous start!

I am hopping on the “Friday Favorites” bandwagon and blogging about mine this week. Here are some of the things I’m loving lately!

Houzz

Mal and I are still planning to remodel our house (probably next summer), so we’re gathering ideas for the addition. We also want to redo our sun porch, which is just plain ol’ ugly, so we’ve been playing around with Houzz, a remodeling/home design website with literally millions of absolutely gorgeous and even breathtaking photos on it. You can also search the images by room, style, and location (Boston/Cape Cod versus Albuquerque décor). And you can pin everything to Pinterest!

This quote.

I saw this quote written on the back window of a car the other day, and I thought it was so cute: “Whoever said diamonds are a girl’s best friend, never had a dog.”

I think it would be even better if it said this:

Pugs are special little creatures.

Stitch Fix

Have you guys heard about Stitch Fix? My friends Gina and Julie got me hooked on it after they both blogged about it.

If you’ve never heard of Stitch Fix, it is a personal styling service. You fill out your profile online, which includes a bunch of questions about your style and size preferences, and then Stitch Fix sends you a package of goodies (5 pieces) to try on at home. Every package is different and hand-picked based on your preferences. You try everything on, decide what you want to keep, and then send back what you don’t want.

For people like me, who can’t dress themselves, Stitch Fix is the greatest service ever. They sent me a bunch of pieces that I wouldn’t normally buy for myself. I typically buy the same old boring pieces over and over again, so Stitch Fix is pushing me out of my comfort zone to try new (in style) clothing and accessories. I’ll blog about my new pieces soon””still trying to make up my mind!

Living in the suburbs

Ok, this one is kind of random, but I realized I actually enjoy living in the suburbs. I always thought I was a city girl and wasn’t a fan of moving out of Boston when we first bought our house, but my opinion has definitely changed. Things just seem more relaxed and low-key out here. And I love that I never need to worry about where I’m going to park my car!

Athleta Batwing & Robin Jacket

Athleta sent me a gift card to try some of their clothing, and the second I stepped into the Newbury Street store, I fell in love with their Batwing & Robin Jacket. How adorable is this jacket? I know I’m going to wear it a lot this fall. It is so comfy and cozy and totally flattering. Love it.

Theo Salted Almond Dark Chocolate

The other day, my sister-in-law bought this bar for Mal and me, and, holy goodness, it’s delicious. It’s definitely one of my favorites!

Murphy’s reaction to his new poop bags.

This photo cracks me up so much! I bought poop bags for Murphy at Marshalls the other day, and the girly ones with little hearts on them were way cheaper than the other (more manly) varieties, so I bought them. When I showed them to Murphy, he wasn’t thrilled at all with my selection. His annoyed expression says it all. Haha!

Chocolate chip cookies

I know I just blogged about these gluten-free and egg-free chocolate chip cookies yesterday, but I’m really loving them. I ate a couple of them along with an iced chia tea latte a little awhile ago… holy yum, what a delicious Friday afternoon treat!

  1. I’ve been hearing so many good things about Stitch Fix, but I haven’t actually tried it out myself. I really need to look into that. I feel like I often buy the same old things, so it definitely would be fun to try new pieces that I normally wouldn’t buy or even try on.

  2. Murphy is not very happy with you right now! Maybe show him the part of the post where pugs are a girls best friend and he’ll get over it.

  3. I actually just tried my first Fix and NOTHING fit! I was so disappointed I feel like they totally read my description for what I was looking for incorrectly and i filled out all the info honestly too 🙁

but there was a GREAT necklace that I’m keeping!

  4. Totally love Stitch Fix! I hate to shop…mostly because I never know what to buy. Now, the box arrives and there are always cute things I would never even think to try on! LOVE IT!

  5. so many people have been blogging about stitch fix recently! i’ve gotten several emails from friends about it too — which makes me wonder if you get some sort of referral credit for friends you recommend?

the clothes are cute, but i definitely need to try something on before i commit to it. hopefully you found some good stuff!

  6. Thanks for turning me on to Stitch Fix….it sounds AWESOME!! I signed up and can’t wait to see what I get!

    1. Totally worth it! There’s a $20 fee for every “fix” you get and then you just pay for what you keep. You can get shipments as frequently as you want.

  7. Great post Tina! I enjoyed going back into your past and reading the posts about your home development. I’m a ‘kind of newish’ reader so I hadn’t seen those before today. Have a good weekend!

  8. OMG i got that chocolate just the other day! Isn’t it delish?!
I got a stitch fix too!!! It will arrive sometime next week! Just in time for Labor day. I think Stitch Fix is a really cool business. The whole idea is awesome. Great for those who don’t like shopping, lol

  9. Veggie fried rice with a super “cheesy” tahini sauce!!! SO GOOD – as I munch and type! Love your cookie recipe!!! Can’t wait to see your goodies from Stitch fix! Wish we had something like it in Ireland!

  10. I got my first Stitch Fix box this week, and it was filled with fun clothes!! One catch -I’m a very petite person, and they don’t carry petite sizes. Because they asked my height/weight and dimensions, I assumed the clothes would be sized appropriately. I did keep one dress and will get it hemmed, but the other clothes were not a good fit. I wrote customer service, and they said petite sizes are coming soon 🙂

  11. I liked living in the suburbs too! Right now I’m in Watertown, which is still kind of urban, but we plan to move farther north once we decide to buy instead of rent. Good luck with your remodel!

  12. My Pure Barre classes are the highlight of my week, so those are definitely on the list. Also, I just bought one of Butter London’s new purple mascara’s and I’m really excited about that 🙂

  13. I love Theo and since I live in Seattle I have to support a local business (really an excuse to eat more chocolate), you should try the chocholate covered bread crumbs bar (so good, gives a crunch and a touch of salt as well) or you could just come to Seattle and go to their “tasting room”, so many great flavors.

  14. As much as I think Stitch Fix would be good for me (I buy the same stuff over and over again too), I just can’t get excited about the prices. It’s kind of expensive! I love seeing what others get though!

I like living in the suburbs too. I like to take a visit to the city every once in awhile, but living in the suburbs is more my style!

  15. Haha, Murphey’s face with the bags 🙂 I just got my Cairns, Mr. Gatsby and Hattie Mae, a new package of poop bags. I chose the pretty, jewel tone ones with nice designs. I figure if I’m picking up the business, I’m at least going to enjoy the bags somewhat, haha.

  16. Oh Murphy! I love that face! And that jacket is very cool, I love the color.

I would never give up growing in the ‘burbs. I actually grew up in Abington, which was just far enough from the city, but close enough to just hop on the T in Braintree and ride in wherever we wanted!

  17. I adore Theo salted almond bars -both dark and milk! They’re often my reward for completing projects…or just making it through the day. 😉

Glad to hear you’re enjoying life in the suburbs! After spending seven years living in the heart of Washington DC, I recently moved across the river to Arlington, and feel so much more relaxed. It’s the best of both worlds – I can still access the city easily, but get to come home to a quiet neighborhood at night. 🙂

    Have a great weekend, Tina!

  18. Have you gotten your first Stitch Fix box? I am so curious and I enjoy the blogger reviews. I am a solo shopper and I typically only shop on vacation or online, so I don’t know if it would be for me. Curious if you do a review!

  19. My husband and I are building a home this spring (just closed on 17 acres last week!). I loooovvvee houzz.com and I have found a LOT of awesome stuff on there. I think I have a a good idea of what I want in a home now, but there are so many choices to make!
