Hi, guys! How was your weekend? Mine was filled with good friends, good food, and plenty of good times! It was truly a wonderful weekend.
On Saturday night, we had a couple of friends over for pizza night. Mal whipped up some homemade dough (recipe from the Bread Baker’s Apprentice), which was surprisingly easy to make. He needed to make it the night before and store it in the refrigerator, but it was so simple.
The directions instructed him to divide the dough into six smaller portions, so we had “personal” size pizzas to get creative with.
We each made our own creation and then turned the last two balls of dough into a veggie lover’s and everything pizza.
And then we transferred each one to a pizza stone in the oven to cook. They were done in no time!
We were all pretty entertained by Mal’s dough spinning skills, but Quinn was not that impressed. That little face… too cute.
Pizza heaven! Our pizzas turned out so well and the dough was phenomenal. Excellent work, Mal!
On Sunday morning, we met our friends Elizabeth, Nick, and their daughter, Grace, for brunch at the Scarlet Oak Tavern in Hingham.
We heard great things about the brunch, so we were really excited to go there. (Local friends: Scarlet Oak is totally kid-friendly, but it was super busy on Sunday, so definitely make a reservation. We got lucky and somehow scored a table in about 15 minutes.)
Cheers to great friends! And cocktails at brunch! Elizabeth and Nick are so fun. I’m so glad we got to spend time with them yesterday.
Our little peanut tried cornbread for the first time at brunch. He was a fan. Well, he’s a fan of all food, but he especially liked cornbread.
In addition to my mimosa, I ordered a goat cheese and spinach omelette. It was so, so, so tasty. Everyone else raved about their food (and drinks) too, so Scarlet Oak is definitely a winner in my book. Yum!
Question of the Day
Your turn! Food with friends this past weekend: Who? What? Where? When?
