Hi, friends! I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July weekend! If you’re just catching up with posts now, here’s a quick recap:

- Today Is Going To Be A Good Day
Yesterday was easily one of my favorite days of summer so far. It started with a glorious 10K road race followed by a very relaxing afternoon, which involved lounging by the pool, lots laughter, and plenty of good eatin’.
There were also really adorable smoochy-face dogs to entertain me!
After the race, Mal and I headed back to Elizabeth‘s parents’ house to hang out by the pool and grill out. We brought Murphy with us so he could play with their dog, Clark, who you might remember from this post and video.
Murphy and Clark are like two peas in a pod. There’s a hardcore doggie bromance growing between them.
Nick and Elizabeth cooked up a delicious lunch for us, complete with cheeseburgers, grilled chicken and shrimp, pasta salad (regular and gluten-free), and an amazing heirloom tomato salad that I am now obsessed with.
The tomato salad is just chopped heirloom tomatoes with olive oil, gorgonzola cheese crumbles, and a little salt and pepper. It was so simple, yet soooo delicious. I can’t wait to recreate it at home.
I filled my plate with a cheeseburger, grilled shrimp, pasta salad, and lots of tomato salad.
Dessert was also pretty awesome. Elizabeth made S’mores on a Stick. I loved them so much, I actually made them for a get-together this afternoon. (My easy tutorial is over on Trading Up Downtown!)
After lunch, the dogs eventually tired out and went inside to the AC to cool off. (Check out Clark’s lip again the glass! LOL!)
Murphy was so pooped!
What a day! I was actually pretty tired myself and went to bed at 8:30 PM! Good times!
P.S. Pug lovers: Check out this guard dog!

Oh my gosh Murphy and Clark are too adorable together. And that’s so funny – I went to bed at 8:30pm last night too!! It was such a grandma move but SO wonderful š
Your pugs are so adorable!! And that spread looks amazing but those choc-covered marshmallows made my mouth water. Those look like the perfect party food! I’m definitely making those asap.
That pool looks gorgeous, I want to jump in!
Oh, Clark! Murphy may have some competition on the cute dog scale. š
Such a cute post, Tina! We had a blast with you guys yesterday. š
Holy moly that tomato salad looks amazing. Where do you buy your tomatoes? I haven’t had the best luck this summer on the South Shore. Next try is Scituate Farmer’s Market tomorrow.
@Yellaphant: I think Elizabeth buys them at the small farmers’ market on West Broadway in Southie.
All of the food looks delicious! So glad the pups got to celebrate the 4th as well!
Awww the pups look so cute! I love watching dogs have fun together š
Your food looks so festive! Switching to gluten-free seems to be helping you?
Crazy simple, CRAZY delicious. Just watermelon + gorgonzola + tomato.

i think of the 4th as a very dog-centered holiday, since i always have to be w mine for the fireworks now.
Those marshmallows look incredible! I will definitely have to make those š
Marshmellows on a stick is genius. I’m seriously going to make that ASAP. They look so adorable too!
Looks super-fun indeed! I can’t wait till my heirloom tomatoes are ripe so I can try stuff with ’em! And glad you could enjoy all the food.
Looks like a wonderful day and feast! I’ve never seen marshmallows like those before. I’m going to add them to my list of “must try” recipes.
Murphy & Clark are quite a pair! So cute!!
HAHA great pics of the dogs! I love good tomato salads, or else I can not stomach tomatoes…..hopefully your stomach/GI tract is holding up well š

buwahahahaahah!! these pugs pictures are hilarious; “bromance” = awesome.
And those marshmallow graham cracker balls look freaking ridiculous. I’d like to live in a land where they replace trees.

Clark and Murphy are pretty much the best names ever for dogs. So cute!
Also wouldn’t want to get caught shoplifting with that guard pug on duty š
Those marshmallows on sticks looks so cute!
hahaha Clark’s face on the window is soooo funnny!!! It should be in a humorous magazine or something.
That salad looks so fresh and delicious!
The food looks delish! Those s’mores on a stick sound so easy to make…I must make them for my kids, they would love them š
This is the one thing that my 4th was missing
A DOG!
Omg that food looks amaze-zingggg. Yum.
That tomato salad sounds yummy! Tomatoes are so tasty on their own that they really don’t need much to bring out their flavour. I even like them just plain with salt and pepper!
I’ve been telling Elizabeth for years now that I’m coming to Boston specifically to kidnap Clark. I love that dog!!
I’ve never tried heirloom tomatoes, but that salad sounds easy and delicious, which totally makes it a winner in my book !
My labrador has a doggie bromance with the lab over the road…soooo cute
What a cute Frenchie! Those S’mores on a stick look really good!
