I have another awesome workout for you guys! Get excited! This time we’re using a barbell! (Although, a set of dumbbells would probably work too!)
But, first, let me tell you about my workout gear since I’m excited to partner with Victorias Secret Sport (VSX) once again!
We all know Victoria’s Secret is known for lingerie, but their sport line is growing and, honestly, the brand is nailing it with their gear, especially the sports bras. I can’t tell you how many people have raved about them to me since my last post.
A sport bra is a bra too, and Victoria’s Secret knows how to make a great one based on the same fit technology they use to construct their regular bras. Their sport bra collection size and fit just like a normal bra (32D, 36C, etc.), which creates more support and a more accurate fit.
The Victoria’s Secret Sport collection also includes some really snazzy tops and bottoms. Once again, I’m wearing the Knockout Tights (in a different pattern this time) as well as The Player tank, which I want like 5 more of. They’re lightweight and perfect for super sweaty workouts. (FYI: They run kind of big, so I’d order a size down. I ordered an extra small and small and ended up keeping the extra small, which is pictured in this post.)
Ok, it’s time to break a sweat! This workout is actually 3 mini workouts in one. You’ll complete the exercises below 3 different times with one minute of rest in between each round. Each round is 5 minutes and the goal is to accumulate as many rounds as possible (AMRAP) in that amount of time. Your score will be how many total rounds (+ reps) you get at the end of the 3 AMRAPs.
The first movement is Shoulder-to-Overhead (S2OH), which means you have your choice of how you’ll get the barbell from your shoulders to overhead.
You can Press, Push Press, or Push Jerk the bar overhead. It’s whatever you prefer and makes sense for the weight you selected. Just to give you an idea, I used 65 pounds and Push Pressed the weight. Although, I actually wish I went heavier (85 pounds) and Push Jerked, especially since the reps are so low. Whatever you decided, you’ll still get an awesome workout!
Since the workout is 3 short AMRAPs of 5 minutes, you want to pick a weight that’s challenging, but you can move fairly fast with it too.
After you finish 3 S2OH reps, you’ll transition the bar to your back and perform 6 alternating lunges (3 each leg, 6 total).
I saved the best for last! The final movement is Over-the-Bar Burpees. (I promise they’re fun!)
This means you’ll do a Burpee parallel next to the barbell and then jump over it laterally with both feet. That counts as one rep, so you’ll Burpee and jump for a total of 9 reps.
After you complete the Over-the-Bar Burpees, you’ll rest for 1 minute and then start round #2 with 3 S2OH, followed by Alternating Lunges and Over-the-Bar Burpees. You’ll rest again for 1 minutes and then complete round #3 the same way.
