Yesterday morning, I woke up to the sound of sizzling bacon. Ooh, yes.
My wonderful and amazing husband was in the kitchen cooking us breakfast. Yay!
On the weekends, I’m usually the one who gets up first and starts making breakfast. Mal wanted to switch things up, so as soon as he saw me walk into the kitchen, he “banished” me back to the bedroom. He was a little upset that I ruined his surprise, but it’s hard to conceal the delicious smell of bacon, right?
So I climbed back into bed and read last week’s issue of US Weekly (I finally renewed my subscription) while Mal did thing in the kitchen.
A little while later, I was “allowed” to come out of the bedroom for a delicious pancake and bacon breakfast. My goodness, it was delicious!
My plate + another pancake.
FYI: We bought the buttermilk pancake mix from Whole Foods, and it was really good! Mal also adds a big scoop of sour cream to his pancake batter to make them fluffier.
After breakfast, Mal and I cleaned the entire house, did laundry, all that jazz, and then we moved our old couch outside to make way for the new one.
Lunch
After our cleaning and moving spree, I ate a bowl of yogurt with banana slices and trail mix mixed in for lunch.
And then we relaxed and waited for our new couch to arrive.
Murphy had the toughest time without the couch. He just couldn’t get comfortable.
Eventually, Murphy moved onto our bed because he was so frustrated with the lack of couch in the living room. His life = so hard.
While waiting for our special delivery, I kept myself entertained by doing some baking.
Sugar cookies!
With frosting and fall sprinkles! (Both recipes are from allrecipes.com.)
Hours passed and our couch still hadn’t been delivered. It was starting to get dark and cold, so Mal built us a fire. Of course, the pug helped.
Dinner
I was getting pretty hungry at this point, so I ate a random mix of goodies for dinner: scrambled eggs with cheese, edamame with sea salt, and sweet potato puffs with ketchup, which I went back for a second serving of.
Around 6:00 PM, our couch finally arrived!!! I immediately snuggled up on it with Murphy (of course) and passed out around 7:30 PM. It was awesome. (I’ll share some photos later today. It was too dark in our living room to snaps pics last night.)
Question of the Day
When I was banished to our bedroom yesterday morning, I stumbled upon a piece in US Weekly called “Dating Deal-Breakers” that I thought would make a fun Question of the Day.
What are some of your dating deal-breakers?
Some of mine: If the guy is a smoker, doesn’t like animals, is rude or snarky, isn’t into fitness, is a picky eater.
