• Flip Belt Review & Giveaway

    November 11, 2012

I have a cool new running/fitness product for you guys! Introducing the Flip Belt!

The Flip Belt is a “single tubular pocket” that carries everything you need for your workouts. Each one has four openings (two in the front + two in the back) where you can easily insert your cell phone, Gu/fuel, keys, ID, cash, etc.

The folks at Flip Belt sent me one to review, so I’ve worn it a number of times on my runs to test it out. I thought nothing could rival my beloved Spibelt, but the Flip Belt is putting it to the test!

What I like best about the Flip Belt is that it doesn’t bounce, which is my #1 gripe with the Spibelt. Once I get going on my runs, I don’t notice my Spibelt bouncing around, but I always think it’s kind of annoying for the first few minutes, especially if I pack it full. The Flip Belt is flat and even all around, so it doesn’t bounce at all.

    IMG_5550 (563x750)

The Flip Belt can be worn low on your hips or higher near your waist. Both ways are comfortable, but the Flip Belt inched up when I wore it low on my hips during a couple of my runs, so I’ve been wearing it closer to my waist where it doesn’t move around.

    IMG_5559 (563x750)

The Flip Belt makes it easy to access my iPhone or whatever else I’m carrying (no zippers to fiddle with) during my runs. I worried that small items, such as a key, would pop out, but I just flip the belt inward to lock in my items so they stay put. I haven’t had any issues so far!

I love this product so much, I asked my friends at OpenSky if we could offer a deal on it and they agreed. Check it out! If you’re not following me on OpenSky, be sure to sign up, so you can get the deal. AND here’s a chance for you to WIN a Flip Belt!

To enter: Just leave a comment on this post about your favorite piece of running/workout gear. I’ll randomly pick a winner tomorrow morning.

    Good luck!

Definitely my iPod! I love the idea that I could carry my ipod on my waist instead of my arm! Great concept! I’d love to try this product!

    Alexandra November 12, 2012 at 12:51 pm

Love the idea of something that doesn’t bounce and no zippers to fiddle with and extra space when you are at races and need to keep you phone keys and chapstick on you. Can’t run without my Burts Bees chapstick

    Jody November 12, 2012 at 5:35 pm

I love my Garmin watch! This belt would be so useful; I always have the problem of trying to find places to put my essentials while running…. It would be so nice not to have to use places like socks, bras, pinned in hair, (a girl can get creative when needed) and, all sorts of pockets! So excited for this belt!!!

    RACHEL D November 12, 2012 at 5:58 pm

Running would not be the same without my iPhone and the Pandora app!!

    Molly November 12, 2012 at 8:03 pm

HI Tina! Really enjoy your blog. My favorite piece of gear is my IPod Shuffle. I bought one when they first came out…2006, I think? I’ve gone through a dozen pair of earbuds, but the same Shuffle is still going strong.

    Missy November 12, 2012 at 8:03 pm

    jaclyn November 12, 2012 at 8:18 pm

    jaclyn November 12, 2012 at 8:19 pm

Oh, any my favorite running gear is my Bally Thigh trimmer wraps!

    Lizz November 12, 2012 at 9:05 pm

My Lucy Propel pants are the BEST! It’s like wearing nothing, but way more comfortable than trying to run naked.

Monica Chea Lopez November 12, 2012 at 10:52 pm

Favorite running gear is my Yurbud headphones, they never fall out. :-)

Juliette @ Finish Your Broccoli November 12, 2012 at 10:53 pm

I love my SpiBelt too but this looks like a great alternative! Also can’t live without my Yurbuds headphones!

    Sassy November 12, 2012 at 11:47 pm

It’s a tie between my sneakers and my iPod – both totally necessary for a run of any length…. I would love to try a Flip Belt!

    Julia November 13, 2012 at 8:12 am

My favorite running accessory would have to be my arm band which holds my iPod!

    Denyne November 13, 2012 at 8:32 am

Favorite running gear is my ipod. OMG, I don’t think my feet move without music.

    Lisa November 13, 2012 at 9:26 am

    Tiffany A November 13, 2012 at 12:28 pm

    My ipod!

Ali @ WHOLEistically Fit November 13, 2012 at 1:02 pm

Too bad I’m not in time for the giveaway ;). This looks really interesting and definitely like something I’d like to try out, especially since I’m wanting to make the switch from my old ipod to using my phone as my music source during my workouts. This looks like it would be a great way to hold my phone and other stuff while I’m working out. Thanks for the review!

    Lindsay November 13, 2012 at 2:08 pm

my fav outdoor running gear is my garmin … just got one this year while training for my first half and it was super helpful.

Liz in NC November 13, 2012 at 2:27 pm

I have to have my phone when I run. I use it for a gps, music and in case of emergency. I have been using a spibelt for a couple of years now, but looks like it would be less bouncy.

    Monica November 13, 2012 at 2:37 pm

It is definitely my Garmin Forerunner 305. Does the flip belt velcro on?

    cher November 14, 2012 at 12:59 am

    Phebe November 14, 2012 at 10:43 am

Ipod for sure! So hard to be motivated without it.

    Dani K November 14, 2012 at 11:17 pm

My favorite piece of workout gear is an Anthropod gear belt, but this may be my new favorite.

    Dani K November 14, 2012 at 11:18 pm

    Lindsey February 27, 2013 at 6:00 pm

    What size are you wearing?

    Tina February 27, 2013 at 6:44 pm

    Lindsey February 27, 2013 at 9:19 pm

Thank you. I’m hoping to lose a few inches so I’m struggling on what size to get. :/

    dotsie June 2, 2013 at 9:56 pm

Hey there, are you still using your Flip Belt? I just ordered one, like, five minutes ago…

    Tina June 2, 2013 at 10:01 pm

    Yep! :)

    rachel @ louloubelleblog July 23, 2013 at 3:45 pm

Any tips on how to keep your stuff from falling out of the flip belt? I ran a 10K and my cell phone fell out and shattered :( I have not worn it since.

    Tina July 23, 2013 at 3:49 pm

Did you flip it inward to “lock” it? I’ve never had an issue with anything ever falling out of it.
