Similar Situation

May 18, 2010

Remember this post? Well, I have the same situation on my hands tonight, so I am going to make this post snappy! Priorities, right? ;-)

Snack

Before Body Pump this evening, I snacked on a banana, which, in my opinion, is a great pre-work snack… well, besides whole wheat toast + peanut butter. I love that one, too!

So, Body Pump kicked my butt tonight!! 8-O I haven’t been to a class in about a week, so I was definitely feeling it tonight. I even stopped to rest on a few tracks, which I hardly ever do. Usually, I just push through until the end of the song and “enjoy” the burn. Tonight, however, I felt like a big ol’ wuss. Oh, well. I’m sure after a few more classes, I’ll get right back into it again. Minor set back, right? ;-)

Dinner

After Body Pump, Mal and I met Blain (my webmaster  extraordinaire) at the Hancock Tavern for dinner.

My lovely dates.

IMG_0010.JPG

To start, I ordered the house salad with honey mustard on the side. It was your basic bar salad: lots of iceberg lettuce and not enough “real” veggies. Even still, the cucumbers, onions, and tomatoes were really fresh.

For my entree, I ordered the “bar-sized” Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Basically, it’s a small pizza. I ate three pieces and saved the rest for my lunch tomorrow. Mal already finagled a few pieces of pizza for his lunch, too. It’s a good thing I like him!

I love the Hancock’s Buffalo Chicken Pizza. It’s the best I’ve eaten in the Boston area!

M&M are waiting for me on the couch. Time for LOST!!!

Sometimes your body just doesn’t want to cooperate with your mind. The will is there to have a hard workout, but the muscles are getting fatigued. It’s probably because it had been a few days. Delicious looking pizza.

That pizza does look killer! We are tivo-ing Lost, I can’t wait to watch the episode. I strangely have developed a dislike for watching live tv due to commercials. Funny how technology can change and mold you so much!

YUM! What an awesome looking pizza! The dates don’t look too bad, either!

I totally find that a banana and PB/AB is the best pre-workout snack and one of the only things that doesn’t give me a stomachache, just tons of energy.

Mmm I love banana’s anytime but my favorite pre workout snack is a banana with a good ol’ smear of peanut butter!

mmmmm love pizza. and i totally agree about bananas – such a great snack to grab on the go before a workout!

I agree, bananas are a great pre-workout snack. I also LOOOOVE cottage cheese before working out…only about half a serving, though.

M&Ms are not safe when I am around. And your friend has some pretty killer tattoos.
I’m a post late, but I love the idea of the Barnstorming Tour -anything to get folks more connected to their food and the people who nourish us. Farmer love!

Pizza looks so yummy! I find that if I skip bootcamp class for a week, it really is harder the next time. Funny how I can lose some of my fitness in such a short time.

Pizza is the greatest food ever. :) You really make me want to try Body Pump…..somtimes it’s good to get your butt kicked a little in a workout. Keeps you on your toes. :)

Glad you have your priorities straight. And man was that an awesome episode. I think this Sunday’s Lostathon is going to be bigger than the Super Bowl for me.

Hi Tina,
I love your blog. Just wondering how your book is coming along, you haven’t blogged about it in awhile! When will it be out? Thanks!

I’ve never had buffalo-flavoured anything, but it looks really yummy! It’s not a flavour we do here in Australia, sadly…

I’ve heard that you’re not supposed to eat fat before a workout because fats are meant for storage, not immediate energy, like the carbs in bananas give you, and so it’s harder to lose weight if you eat fat before a workout. Is that true? But, I guess it if works for you then… well it works for you! Seems like PB is working for a lotta other people too! :) Can’t blame them. Maybe it’s the deliciousness factor? ;)

Man, I want to try Body Pump. I’d probably get my butt kicked (out) of the class in 30 seconds – I’m trying the 30 Day Shred soon, sort of excited but dreading it at the same time! :D

body pump always makes me think of a bike pump and somehow moving your body in that motion. I guess I need to go to a class to disspell that idea…

That buffalo chicken pizza is making me hungry — and it’s early in the morning! We have a place near us that makes buffalo chicken pizza with thinly sliced and fried potatoes on it and it is SO GOOD! :)

Hope you enjoyed Lost! I can’t wait until Sunday!

Hi Tina!

I’ve been reading your blog for a couple of months now and I really enjoy my daily dose of carrotsncake! I live in Quincy as well and we love the Hancock Tavern, a good friend of mine was a bartender there for years and she just recently left. I’ve yet to try the buffalo chicken pizza but it looks delicious, plus I’m pretty sure pizza is only $2 until 5pm – such a deal! I love your blog and seeing how you incorporate healthy eating and excercising with out completely restricting yourself to “health food”. Keep up the good work – very happy you decided to keep blogging!

OMG – love, love, love Hancock Tavern pizza. Have you ever had buffalo chicken pizza from a Piezoni’s (formally Pepperoni’s)? If not, you need to get on it! You can come down my way and I’ll take you for a treat!
