Hot Dog

May 7, 2010

This afternoon, Murphy and I enjoyed a nice, long, 3-mile walk around the neighborhood. By the end, Murphy was really exhausted. (Maybe his breakfast didn’t provide him with enough fuel?)

As soon as we walked into our apartment, Murphy plopped right down on the cool, hardwood floor in the dining room. I thought he might be more comfortable on our comfy, soft bed, so I put him there and turned the fan on him.

I know, I’m such a softie. He’s just so frickin’ cute! ;-) Plus, he loved the cool breeze from the fan. Look at that goofy pug smile!

Dinner

Mal and I kicked-off Happy Hour promptly at 5 o’clock today. We started with a bottle of Pretty Things Baby Tree beer. Baby Tree is “a year-round quadrupel brewed with dried plums… Baby Tree is a Belgian-inspired beer, also inspired by springtime, lambs, Yorkshire and babies-in-trees.” It sounded like a good one to me! ;-)

_MG_0542.JPG

I’ve heard such great things about this beer, so I was really excited to finally give it a try.

The Baby Tree had a smooth, strong, and dark fruit flavor. I could definitely taste the plum.

_MG_0554.JPG

It was totally a sipping beer.

_MG_0558.JPG

To go along with the beer, I whipped up a batch of Edamame Guacamole. (I’m obsessed!)

_MG_0565.JPG

I didn’t have any cilantro in the house, so I nixed it from the recipe this evening. Unfortunately, cilantro is a key ingredient! The guac was still yummy, but it just wasn’t the same without it.

So, I have a “thing” for fun serving bowls. This Double Bowl is one of my favorites. It’s great for foods that compliment one another, like crackers + guacamole, chips + salsa, veggies + hummus, etc. It’s also really heavy-duty. The plastic has some weight to it.

You can purchase this bowl in my shop.

And, here’s another one of my dorky videos. (Seriously, WHY didn’t I blow dry my hair for these videos!?! It looks terrible. :-? )

VinoVoyage

Only a few people purchased tickets to the VinoVoyage and were entered into the Red Sox ticket raffle, so we’re extending the contest to next week. Just enter ‘CNCvino‘ in the Optional Invite field when you register for tickets. Trust me, this is THE wine event of the year! :-D

Mal and I just ordered a pizza, so we’re going to chill on the couch, catch up with our DVR, and chow down. Life is good.

The double bowl is awesome. I am on a guac kick lately- I was at a mexican restaurant tonight and they added $1 to get the guac and I was cheap and didn’t get it and regretted it the whole time. I should try making my own!

The double bowl would be so perfect for breakfast. I always have oatmeal and yogurt; i could picture the oatmeal in the big bowl and the yogurt in the small

There’s nothing like a beer that reminds its maker of springtime & lambs!

“…big snacks and small snacks together…”
hahaha I don’t know why but that made me laugh.

Mmmmm guacamole. I’ve been craving (and eating) guac & salsa since Cinco de Mayo.

Cilantro is the key ingredient to most deliciousness! I want to love avocado, but sadly I don’t. It just looks like something I should love. I think I would love it with the edamame, but I can’t have that either. Oh well, I will just live that experience through you! I hope you had a great evening with your little family and that you have a great weekend!

Im only saying this because I know how much youd appreciate a good chuckle-especially after all the shenanigans youve had to put up with these past few days. Check out the placement of the bowls where the video is paused. Kinda looks like your “girls” are a lil lopped-sided (sp?). Gotta love a little 12 yr. old boy immaturity to start your day right, haha.

Your dog is such a sweetheart! That picture makes me want a pug even more. I love the idea of the double bowl…would definitely make putting foods that ‘go together’ easier to do (oatmeal and fruit, salsa and chips, etc) plus I am so happy your blog is back. I love the cheeriness of it and I look forward to reading more!
xo :)

Hey bud, for what it’s worth, Pretty Things beer is brewed in Westport, MA, not in Cambridge.
