Happy FRIDAY, friends!! Is anyone else psyched for a 3-day weekend!?!
So, guess who locked themselves out of their apartment this morning?? 😯 THIS girl! I’m such a space cadet sometimes. 😕
You see, when I take Murphy for long walks, I just take my house key with me instead of my whole key chain. I use a hair tie to put the key around my wrist, so I can travel light. Well, I forgot to put it back on my key chain, so when I left the house to walk Murphy this morning, I ended up locking myself out. GAH!
Fortunately, Dave and Marie live right down the street, so I knocked on their door and used Dave’s phone to call Mal at school. Luckily, I caught my husband right before homeroom started and he drove home to let me into our apartment. Thankfully, it all worked out! I swear, there’s never a dull moment in my life. (I need to get it together!)
Breakfast
Before locking myself out for over an hour, I started my morning with Overnight Oats in a Jar.
Overnight Oats in a Jar are just regular oats, soaked overnight, in a mostly-empty nut butter jar. The oats absorb the liquid (soy milk, water, etc.) that you add to them, so in the morning, you have a cool, mushy mess of oatmeal to enjoy. The base is typically oats, but you can also use oat bran, spelt flakes, granola, etc. The toppings as endless and you can add them the night before or the next morning– either way works. So, add all of your ingredients to the jar the night before, let it sit in the fridge overnight, grab a spoon, and enjoy it in the morning. Simple as that. No cooking involved!
My mix this morning was 1/4 cup old-fashioned oats, 1/4 cup oat bran, 1 cup soy milk, raisins, chia seeds, and walnuts. Delicious.
I also had a glass of iced coffee with soy milk with breakfast.
It was very refreshing this morning! 😀
Cats & Dogs
It’s no surprise that I love pugs! Of course, I love Murphy, but I also love other people’s pugs and random pugs that I meet on the street. Ok, so maybe I am a tad obsessed. 😉
But, did you know that I also have a thing for orange cats? Before Murphy, the love of my life was a big orange cat named Corey. He passed away a few years ago, but he lived a very long and happy kitty life. (He was 17-years-old when he died.)
Like Murphy, Corey was a real character. He had so much personality! He constantly “talked” to us. He was always meowing about something! 😉
He was a really good cat, and I miss him a whole lot.
Question of the Day
Are you a cat person or a dog person?
P.S. I am hosting a giveaway over on Trading Up Downtown this morning!
