We Walked

April 5, 2010

Murphy and I walked and walked and walked this afternoon. According to my Garmin, we covered 3.89 miles in 1:22:23.

Murph was such a rock star on our walk today. He even ran with me a number of times during it. We probably would have kept walking if the weather wasn’t so warm. Pugs can sometimes overheat and have trouble breathing in the warm weather, so I didn’t want to push him too much.

Murphy was so pooped when we got home.

But, I think he was sort of proud of himself, too! ;-) Four miles is a long way for a little dog!

Lunch

I tried something new for lunch today: mashed cauliflower and asparagus with garlic and pesto. Mmm!

IMG_0005.JPG

I had some leftover steamed cauliflower and asparagus in the refrigerator, so I threw them in my food processor with some olive oil, garlic, and store-bought pesto. The end result was delicious! It sort of tasted like cold pesto mashed potatoes.

IMG_0008.JPG

I threw some wheatberries on top for some added chew.

IMG_0009.JPG

I also enjoyed a sweet, crisp Gala apple with lunch.

IMG_0018.JPG

And a Reese’s peanut butter egg from my Easter basket.

Snack

After walking for over an hour with Murphy, I was starving for a snack. As soon as I walked in the door, I made myself a PB & J on whole wheat bread and chowed it down. I didn’t even take a photo! Oops! But, it tasted really good and satisfied my grumbling stomach.

New Shoes

I received a number of questions and comments about the black and white flats that I wore yesterday, so I snapped an up-close photo of them this afternoon.

IMG_1176.JPG

They’re American Eagle brand canvas flats from Payless and they cost me just $16! (They were originally $19.99, but I had a coupon for 20% off! ;-) )

I bought these flats, too! ;-)

Somehow, I feel like I barely accomplished anything today. What the heck happened to today!?! Let’s hope I can bust out some work before dinner!

Wow way to go Murphy!
Your flats are adorable! I always hesitate to get AE flats though because once I got a pair and they gave me really bad blisters. Are they comfortable? I’d love to know if they’ve improved ver the years!

Took my chocolate lab for a 6.5 km walk Saturday- just as we were almost home she laid down in mud and rolled around to cool off… then had a cold bath when we got back and the water was BLACK!

I LOVEEE me some payless shoes! But the only thing is that they sometimes hurt my feet cause of the lack of proper cushioning! How are these holding up?

teresa April 6, 2010 at 9:28 am

If you like Gala apples, and haven’t already, try a Pacific Rose. They are SO pretty and they’re crisp and sweet/tart and fantastic smothered in peanut butter. :) I love them. My local grocery carries them for a ridiculous $2.99/pound, but a nearby Walmart had them for $1.17/pound. I bought 4 pounds and am in apple heaven.
