Freak Show

June 8, 2009

I feel like such a freak with all of these wires and things attached to me! It’s so awkward and uncomfortable. :-?  I can’t wait to get this contraption off me tomorrow morning. I don’t think I could handle it any longer!

I’m down to 19 hours now! I’m glad that I will be asleep for 7-8 of them!

Lunch

Today’s homemade salad was delish– much better than usual! The additions of pickles, ranch-flavored almond slices, and sun-dried tomatoes jazzed it up quite a bit.

After eating my salad, I had a chocolate orange Jocalat bar. I’m not a fan of this one. It tasted artificial and sort of acid-y? Maybe it was the orange flavor that I didn’t like? The flavor is really tough to describe! All I know is that the bar didn’t taste like chocolate at all! It was just plain ol’ strange.

My afternoon snack was a mix of Stonyfield yogurt and Flanigan Farm’s Nuts ‘N’ Things trail mix.

I was planning to save the trail mix for my trip out west later next week, but the Flanigan Farms rep nicely encouraged me to do a review sooner. In the Nut ‘N’ Things mix was dry roasted peanuts, raisins, sunflower seeds, cashews, almonds, and pumpkin seeds. It was an excellent trail mix with lots of satisfying ingredients. I can see how these single serving packs would be super convenient for travel.

What are your favorite trail mix ingredients?

I like trail mix with chocolate in it, like m&m’s or chocolate covered raisins…I like almonds too. And raisins :)

You have a belly ring, I would’ve never guessed!

I love dried strawberries and cherries in my trail mix. I am not a fan of raisins at all, unfortunately, I think because they were so forced on me as a child!
That salad looks good! I am looking forward to a massive healthy dinner salad tonight.

Eeek – good luck with the rest of your tests Tina! Hope those wires don’t bug you too badly :(

The only jocalot bar that isn’t bad is the plain chocolate. The mint and orange flavors are weird! I much prefer regular lara bars…

I recently picked up some dried cherries from TJ’s – along with mini chocolate chips and Kashi Heart-2-Heart they make a great trail mix!

Those packs look convenient. I love a bit of chocolate in my trail mixes!

Man, that does look pretty uncomfortable. It will be over soon!

I feel the same way about the Jocolat bars… they taste really nasty and really bitter to me.

My favorite trail mix ingredients? Anything chocolate-related!! Oh, and some dried fruit too (cranberries)

Hey, it could be worse! My friend had to wear a contraption for a “pill endoscopy”, where she swallowed a pill camera and then had to wear a device to track it!

I hope everything works out Tina, and you have good news tomorrow :o ) I’ll be pulling for ya!

If you don’t mind my asking (and feel free to ignore if this is too personal), I was wondering if you noticed your resting HR in the 40s when you wear a HRM? I am kind of skeptical of their accuracy and was just wondering how it matches up to what the doctors measured.

Have a wonderful rest of your Monday!

@Holly: I’m not sure to tell you the truth. I’ve only used a HRM once or twice. It gets pretty high (170), but goes back to normal pretty fast.

i hope the rest of your “Wired” day isn’t too bad!

I like every trail mix if it has chocolate in it :)

Sorry Tina =( I had to do the same 24-hour monitoring a few years ago. It was so uncomfortable and restricting! But hopefully you’ll have some peace of mind when it’s all over, knowing you’re healthy!

Aww I’m sorry to hear you have to do that today. But hopefully it will give you some good insights to your health!

I’ve had to wear one of those monitors before, but its been quite awhile, if you think that is bulky, you shoulda seen the antiquated one i had to wear, it was a bit bigger than your average 80s cassette walkman…awesome.

Erin June 8, 2009 at 6:27 pm

Oh Teen!
I have to say, no one could make a heart monitor look as hot as you do.
I hope everything’s okay! Rubbing alcohol will get the sticky stuff off your ribs!

Michele June 8, 2009 at 6:35 pm

I hope you get good results from the monitor. I had to wear one for 30 days once. What a pain!

I have a case of the chocolate orange bars and I am also not a fan. If anyone reading this likes them, let me know so I can find them a good home. Ha! I hate wasting food.

My favorite trail mix is dried cherries & blueberries, pistachios, almonds and dark chocolate chunks.

My favorite trail mixes have some sort of mixture that includes nuts, raisins and chocolate (especially M&M’s but chocolate chips would do, haha). Good luck with the rest of your wire-wearing, I didn’t know you had a belly button ring!! ;-)

Speaking of bars, have you tried the Larabar Carrot Cake flavor, and if so, what did you think? Carrot cake is my favorite (and most missed) food in the entire world! Nothing more said than a bd carrot cake :(

Yes, but, sadly, it’s not very good.
