What We Did While Dad Was Away

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Hi, friends!

Mal was away with some of his buddies this past weekend, so it was just Quinn and me hanging out. I ended up taking a lot of #quinnpics (that’s what we text each other when we want to see what the little guy is up to) for Mal over the course of the weekend, so I thought I’d share some of them with you guys. So, here’s what we did while Dad was away!

We ate some delicious meals. Highlights for Quinn: PB & J on raisin bread and steamed apples. He loved the apples so much, he was shoving them in his mouth as fast as he could. It was so cute. Haha!

We played and play and played. And partied a little bit. Look at those little legs kicking away!

We shared a blueberry muffin. Mom needed second breakfast, so we popped into Whole Foods for a muffin and an iced latte when we were out running errands.

We made Dad an art project (pictured above).

As soon as I handed Quinn a paintbrush, he put it right in his mouth. Haha!

We took Murphy for a walk in the rain. The pug didn’t love it, but Quinn and I really enjoy the fresh air.

We did our grocery shopping for the week. We went bright and early on Sunday morning when Whole Foods was quiet, so it was actually a relaxing experience, which I don’t often say about grocery shopping! (Crowds stress me out and I like to dillydally and check out different foods, read labels, etc.)

Questions of the Day

What do you think of grocery shopping? Love it? Hate it?

What’s your favorite kind of muffin?

Do you consider yourself an artist? Do you enjoy arts and crafts?

  1. I love grocery shopping. Grocery stores are my happy place and I could spend forever in them. I think it becomes stressful when I am on a time crunch, but if not then I love to wander.

Those pictures are so cute! Glad you guys had fun 🙂

  2. I know we’re supposed to be thinking spring, but I love pumpkin muffins! With lots of butter and a milky coffee on a crisp fall morning 🙂

  3. Awesome! How did you introduce PB to Quinn? I am going to try it with my 10 mo old but just not sure how to do it. I don’t think she is allergic but who knows.

  4. I feel the same way about grocery shopping! I actually love going but the crowds and chaos give me anxiety. Quinn is absolutely adorable!!

  5. Just finished a pistachio muffin nice dessert. Love grocery shopping when it’s not busy and don’t have.Quinn just any artistic bones in my body. Quinn just gets cuter every day.

  6. I am not a fan of crowds when I am grocery shopping. A lot of times the local stores in MI carry a product and then all of a sudden they won’t for a few weeks. This drives me nuts since this messes with my menu/shopping list.

  7. Quinn is adorable!
I have embraced grocery shopping and now tend to go late afternoon on a Saturday…by that time most people are done for the day!

  8. So this is a dumb “about to be a first time mom” question, but I see you kept Quinn in his car seat when you went grocery shopping. Do you just set him down in the buggy and hope your items will fit around him? I nearly run out of room in the buggy when I do my weekly shopping as it is, so I’ve been wondering how I’m going to do it with a babe in tow!

    1. That’s not a dumb question at all! I put the majority of my groceries in the bottom part of the stroller and then I carry two reuseable bags (one on each arm) for anything that doesn’t fit. I can usually get a full week’s worth of groceries, but nothing more– if I was going to stock up on big things or something. (I used Boxed and Amazon for a lot of that stuff.)

  9. I don’t mind grocery shopping but the Husband is so much better at it than I. Where I tend to buy the same things week after week he is able to find new and exciting things for the week.

Blueberry muffins are hands down my favorite muffin. I wasn’t aware other flavors existed.

I am crafty, not artsy. I can copy something like nobody’s business. Just don’t ask me to come up with something original.
