Thank goodness for running! Sometimes, a long, sweaty run is just what I need to work through my problems and clear my mind. This morning’s run was one of those runs.
I haven’t shared this on the blog yet, but if you follow me on Twitter, you’ve probably seen a few tweets about my recent health issues. I’m not really sure what’s wrong with me, but later today, I’m finally having a procedure that will hopefully tell the doctors what’s going on. Needless to say, I’m a tad freaked out because, up until the past few weeks, I’ve been healthy as can be.
Hopefully, everything works out for the best, and I won’t have any news to share with you guys once I get the test results back!
Ok, enough of that. Let’s talk about something fun like my run this morning!
After breakfast, I headed out to do my long run for the week. Tomorrow morning, I’m driving out to upstate New York, so instead of waking up super early to run, I did my long run today. I have a feeling I’m really going to appreciate sleeping in tomorrow morning!
I flew through the first four miles of my run. Basically, I blacked out. The next couple of miles were killer because I didn’t bring water with me. At times, I thought I was going to die. Around Mile 6.5, I stopped at a gas station to beg for water. Thankfully, the gas attendant was really nice and let me have some. It never tasted so delicious! After that, the last two miles of my run went much better.
- Mile 1: 8:59
- Mile 2: 8:48
- Mile 3: 8:44
- Mile 4: 8:55
- Mile 5: 8:53
- Mile 6: 9:33
- Mile 7: 8:55
- Mile 8: 8:51
Total: 1:11:45
Last Night’s Dinner
Last night, Mal and I went to dinner at the Abington Ale House. I’m sort of obsessed with their patio, so we decided to enjoy the nice weather and eat dinner outside.
Before I even looked at the menu, I ordered a glass of water, which was massive! Check out the size of that thing! I ended up drinking it all!
Once I felt hydrated, I ordered a beer: Longtrail IPA (not Miller Lite).
I wasn’t very hungry for dinner, so I ordered a garden salad with honey mustard on the side and some sweet potato fries. I’m almost always hungry, but I wasn’t feeling it last night.
After dinner, two new internet friends met us for a drink. Ryan and Liz blog at Eat, Save, Travel. They live on the South Shore and have lots of the same interests as Mal and me, so we decided to meet up.
The four of us chatted about traveling, fitness, running, and, of course, blogging. We definitely had plenty to talk about!
Ryan also encouraged me to set up a Carrots ”˜N’ Cake Fan Page on Facebook, which I think is great advice for expanding your brand and readership, so here’s the new CNC Fan Page! I hope you decide to ”˜Like’ it!
Off to be poked and prodded! Wish me luck!
