Hooray for ONE!
After Saturday’s birthday celebration, we planned to keep things pretty low-key for Quinn’s birthday, but, even still, he ended up getting sick. On Sunday, he woke up with a cough and stuffy nose and then he developed a fever, so we took him to the doctor on Monday. The poor kid has an ear infection. What a way to spend his first birthday.
Breakfast was toast with peanut butter and banana + fresh watermelon-cantaloupe juice. Oh, how I missed our juicer! I hope it’s here to stay. Juicing on the regular, after having a baby, is quite a bit more challenging!
Quinn still has some birthday presents to open, so we opened a new one yesterday morning and played with it for awhile. He loves anything that he can manipulate with his hands, like stacking blocks or cups, sticking magnets or suction cups together, and making things “shake, shake, shake.” But when it comes to cars, trains, and trucks, he isn’t all that interested””unless they have cool wheels or trunks that he can open and close. My nephew, Matthew, however, loves all of those things”” and he always has, even before he turned one. It’s interesting how kids are so different.
And, of course, Quinn loves walking. All the time. With or without our help. He actually walks, totally unassisted, from room-to-room now. It’s crazy to see. He can even do stairs. Well, he holds onto the door frame to step up or down, but he’s got it!
Quinn also loves being outside and all things nature. He’s been obsessed with some leaves beneath our back porch. He goes to see them every time we’re outside.
Mid-morning snack: ALLTHECOTTAGECHEESE. Dad said Quinn could do anything he wanted on his birthday, so he went to town on his favorite food.
Quinn ended up sleeping the morning away. The poor kid wasn’t feeling well, so we skipped My Gym and relaxed with snuggles and a “ba-ba” on the couch.
After eating some lunch, we took a walk to a nearby plaza to run some errands. (Quinn is definitely cooler now that he’s one.)
Back at home, I chowed down on some Trader Joe’s Chunky Guacamole with veggie chips. I seriously can’t get enough of this stuff.
Quinn also ate a snack and we tried out a new sippy cup with a straw. Quinn lovvveeessss his bottle, so we’re trying a few different cups to wean him off. We also have this 3-stage bottle, which Quinn kind of likes. He definitely still prefers his “ba-ba,” so we have our work cut out for us. Honestly, I didn’t try too hard yesterday since he was under the weather. We’ll pick it up again once he’s feeling better.
Mal came home shortly after that. I got dressed to go to KFIT, chowed down on some Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels, and then hit the road.
I had a great workout at KFIT. I can’t even remember the last time I did pull-ups, so it was an especially fun one for me.
When I got home, Mal was finishing up bath time with Quinn.
After that, he left for a softball game, so I put Quinn to bed and then I broke out some wine and cake and got to work.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, QUINN!
