Hi, guys!
It’s nap time over here, so I wanted to pop in real quick and share a recap of our morning. Quinn is home with me today since I’m off to Des Moines on Friday, and his school kindly agreed to swap days.
Quinn actually slept until 7:00 AM this morning, so by the time we got ourselves ready for the day and walked Murphy, we didn’t have much time for breakfast. I whipped up my usual iced coffee with vanilla bean collagen and almond milk and then grabbed a banana for the road. Quinn ate a PB&J bar and drank some milk. Breakfast was on the smaller side for us, but we had brunch plans, so our quickie eats actually worked out quite well!
After breakfast, we headed to CrossFit for a “gym day.” I worked out while Quinn played with the kids in the playroom. The workout was a fun running one, and I was a sweaty mess by the end. The Burpees actually kind of bothered my tailbone (weird), so I ended up substituting air squats for a round. Even still, it was a great workout!
After CrossFit, we drove down to the Plymouth Municipal Airport for breakfast at Plane Jane’s Place. A friend told me about it, and I knew Quinn would love it.
The restaurant is located right next to the runway, so you watch planes take off and land while you eat.
There’s even an outdoor patio, so you can really get an up-close look at the planes. We only saw one take-off and land, but one of the employees told us the weekends are a lot busier. We’ll definitely have to visit again then!
I ordered 2 eggs with toast and an iced coffee. Quinn opted for a chocolate chip muffin (of course) and some milk. He only ate a few bites of the muffin, but when we got home, he housed lunch! #parentwin
Question of the Day
What’s your go-to diner order? Sweet or savory?
P.S. One of my favorite pairs of jeans are on sale right now for just $60 at Nordstrom – and there’s free shipping both ways! 🙂

What brings you to Des Moines?!
Curious what you’re up to in Des Moines! I’m a fellow east coaster who moved here two years ago. Happy to share some cute coffee shops and restaurants.
I am wondering the same thing as Erin — For those of us in Iowa (Ames!), what brings you to our state?! Lets hope it’s finally done raining!
I would order sweets all day! But trying to be better.
Quick question: protein and kids?
Do you let Quinn eat some the protein bars that you eat? I buy the kid version stuff but hesitant to let them have some of the other bars that we consume. Is there a rule of thumb you follow ? This could also be a question for your Instagram live stuff 🙂
We let him have protein powder – mostly because he doesn’t eat – and only gets protein from full fat dairy. We just try to keep the protein powder as clean as possible with regard to ingredients. He probably only has it a couple of times per month in protein balls made with SFH, so it’s not a regular part of his diet, ya know?
Super cool that you’re coming to Des Moines! Like others said, happy to give some recommendations for places to visit while you are here!
