Wow! What a fun-filled weekend! Running, friends, good beer, and good food”” everything I could have ever wanted on a vacation!

After the Mini 10K and brunch, I headed back to the hotel to quickly shower and get Mal. We had plans to meet friends at Blind Tiger in about an hour, so I really needed to boogie to get ready. Thankfully, I fully embrace the wet hair look! 😉

Blind Tiger is an ale house on Bleecker Street in the Village that serves a variety of draft and bottled beers, so, of course, I was excited to visit.

Yesterday, Blind Tiger was hosting a special event featuring Mikkeller single hop beers. They had 19 different kegs! I ended up having a Sierra Nevada Torpedo and a Mikkeller Cascade Single Hop, which was a Belgian Strong Ale. Both beers were excellent”” they were flavorful and hoppy, but not insanely hoppy. I also drank a ton of water since I felt pretty dehydrated after the race.

I spent a couple of hours chatting and drinking beers at Blind Tiger with Mal, my friend, Matt, and his brother, A.J.

Just when we were about to leave Blind Tiger, Theodora and Becky met up with us, so the six of us headed to a new bar for more chatting and more beers.

At Barrow Street Ale House, I had a Lagunitas IPA and a lot more water.

A little while later, the group split up and said goodbye. Theodora’s dog, Bailey, needed to be walked, so Mal and I went with her to her apartment. We hung out there for awhile, played with Bailey, ate some Baked by Melissa Cupcakes, and then checked out the amazing views from her roof deck!

Before we knew it, it was time for dinner at Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill. Mal and I first went here back in November 2008 and absolutely loved, so when Matt suggested it for dinner, we were all about it! Plus, I can’t even remember the last time I had sushi.

We started with cocktails. I ordered a dirty vodka martini, which was my final cocktail of the evening.

For appetizers, we shared an order of edamame.

And fried chicken with a honey-wasabi dipping sauce, which was outstanding. This is a must-order if you visit Blue Ribbon!

The table also shared a bunch of sushi, which was also really delicious.

After dinner, we hit another bar, but I didn’t last long. I was so tired from the day’s activities (and boozing face), I just wanted to go to bed.

This morning, Mal and I woke up fairly early, and, somehow, I wasn’t hungover at all. I guess drinking water all day long helped me pace my alcohol consumption and kept me hydrated.

Mal and I had a long bus ride back to Boston this afternoon, so we made sure to eat a hearty breakfast before we left NYC. We ended up eating at Rue 57, an adorable French brasserie right down the street from our hotel.

Because of it’s location on 6th Avenue near Central Park, I thought Rue 57 was going to be touristy and over-priced, but it really wasn’t. The food was great and the prices were pretty reasonable for New York City.

To start, Mal and I enjoyed some complimentary mini croissants. He immediately grabbed the chocolate one (his favorite), so I went with the almond one. Mmm! I need to eat croissants more often.

For my entrée, I ordered an egg white omelet with Swiss cheese and grilled tomatoes on the side. Mal and I also shared an order of homefries. Everything was really tasty and just what we needed to satisfy us until we got home to Boston.

After breakfast, we stopped by Starbucks for iced coffees.

Mal and I took them on a short stroll through Central Park together. I wanted to soak up as much of the Big Apple as possible before we left.

I can’t believe the weekend went by so quickly. I love New York City so much. I already want to go back!
