Good morning!
With all of this talk about cows, I thought I’d tell you about my pet “cow.” Ok, so Murphy doesn’t look like a cow, but he “grazes” and chews grass on his walks just like one. Plus, with the way he eats, I swear he has four stomachs!
Murphy also makes a bunch of different farm animal noises. When he sniffs around, he snorts like a pig. When he yawns, he meows like a cat. And when he rides in the back seat of the car, he make this weird chicken cluck noise. I’m telling ya, Murphy is more than just a dog!
Breakfast
I started my morning with a delicious bowl ofย overnight oats. In the mix: old-fashioned oats, Mad Hectic oatmeal, sliced almonds, dried cranberries, walnuts, chia seeds, soy milk, water, and, of course, a big scoop of Barney Butter.
With iced coffee.

The weather has been so hot lately, all I can think about is eating cold food! Check out some of my favorite no-cook recipes for summer: Beat the Heat With These 4 No-Cook, Diet-Friendly Recipes.
Question of the Day
What’s your favorite animal and why?
P.S. If you missed last night’s post, there’s a great discussion going on in the comment section about conventional and organic farming.

I’ve actually always had a strange obsession with pugs – just one reason I love your blog! – but I’ve never owned a dog, just cats. That photo of Murphy is ridiculously cute ๐ I also love koalas because of the juxtaposition between their adorable looks and their sharp claws and nasty personality! Hehe.
My favorite animal is my boxer/lab mix (who I pretend is my baby) Roland. He is the perfect spooner for summer nights. My boyfriend is too big and warm to snuggle with when its this hot out! Haha.
Dogs have always been my favorite animal–I love the loyalty and companionship they provide and every dog I know has SUCH a human personality! But, the winner, by far is my mini-dachshund Charlie Parker. He has so much personality he needed two first names ๐
Dogs, hands down. We’ve had Siberian Husky’s for over 30 years!!! For a great cow story, check out the Pioneer Woman’s Blog today and vote to keep Daisy as a house cow!!! Great blogs about your trip Tina. I have friends, (neighbors), who grow and provide organic baby greens for the NYC restaurant trade and other friends that raise organic red angus cows. They are committed and have been for years to the process of healthy farming. Let me know if you’d like any information about their farms.
Haha Murphy is just too cute! Dogs and cats are my favorite household pets, but I also really like horses.
Murphy is adorable. My dog used to do some really crazy things, too. Tigers are my favorite animals but I can’t have one as a pet, so I’ll settle for a dog! ๐
Your oats look awesome!
Gotta give it up for my cats! My cat, Bill, loves knawing on corn silks and spinach leaves – and when I have fresh corn in the house, I actually have to give him pieces of husk to keep him from jumping into the fridge and going after it himself!
BTW, ditto @Rebecca – the oats do look awesome!
Oh I have missed the pics of Murphy these past few days! He is so stinkn’ cute!
My dog makes cow noises when he stretches! ๐
awww so glad to see a picture of Murphy! I love dogs but I also love my cat, Izzy. She loves eating cat grass, likes to “talk” to me about her day, and likes to lounge on open books. Iz loves to “read” with me.
Your pet cow is the cutest pet cow ever! I like birds, fish, and elephants. ๐
Dogs are my favorite animal for obvious reasons :0)
How adorable is Murphy? – i wanna Pug!
Oh Murphy, so silly! My dog used to snort like a pig too – it was so cute ๐
My favorite animals are horses — I’ve been riding for many years, and despite their size, they’re such incredibly kind, gentle animals!
I would love to see a video and hear all of Murphy’s animal sounds!
My favorite animal is definitely the dog. I hope to have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel some day. Like pugs, their faces have so much character!
