Good morning! Happy Friday!

Let’s get right to the food this morning, so we can talk about movies!

Breakfast

Yesterday morning’s breakfast was a toasted Van’s waffle with peanut butter and banana slices on top. The banana was really big (TWSS), so I sliced it in half and added more peanut butter inside. I also drank a glass of freshly pressed green juice with breakfast. In the juice mix: kale, apple, cucumber, celery, and ginger.

Mid-morning, Murphy and I headed to the senior home to make some visits. As you can see from the photo below, the pug takes his job very seriously. Look at that face!

Lunch

When lunchtime rolled around, I made myself an egg, cheese, and bacon wrap, which was awesome. I definitely need to make these more often in the future.

After lunch, I studied for the CrossFit Level 1 certification that I am taking this weekend. I’ve heard mixed reviews about preparing for the test. Some people say you should study before the course and some people say you’ll learn everything you need to know at the certification. Of course, I’m worried I will fail the exam, so I am studying before. Better safe than sorry!

I planned to go to Starbucks to get my study on, but it was such a nice day, I didn’t want to sit inside, so I set up on our back porch and had my own little study session””complete with cookies and iced coffee.

These Almond Power Cookies were just as delicious as a big-as-your-face cookie from Starbucks and a lot healthier!

My study session also included a lap-obsessed pug.

Movies That Stand the Test of Time

When Mal and I were driving around Ireland a couple of weeks ago, the theme song to The NeverEnding Story came on the radio. (Blast from the past, right?) Of course, as soon as we heard it, we started singing along.

And yelling “Falkor! Falkor!” like in the movie. (We are freaks. Haha!)

When I was at my mom’s house this past weekend, I stumbled upon a photo of me from my 5th birthday when I received a framed photo of the characters in the The Wizard of Oz, which was my favorite movie at the time. Actually, I was sort of obsessed with it as a kid and thought I was Dorothy.

I still love the The Wizard of Oz, and any time I see it on TV, I always stop and watch a few minutes of it. Like The NeverEnding Story, it’s a movie that stands the test of time.

  1. Your outdoor study sesh looks so relaxing. So nice to spend time outside in the beautiful weather! I laughed so hard when I saw that Wizard of Oz framed picture. I did the same thing for my sister a few years ago as a joke because she is terrified of that movie. She hates the flying monkeys, haha! 🙂

  2. Your breakfast wraps looks delicious. I get an egg white wrap made at work in my cafeteria and they make it so perfect. When I do it at home: not the same!
My movie: From my childhood, Anne of Green Gables! I ran out the VHS tape (yes VHS!) when I was a kid and my mom had to buy me two more!
    Good luck in your test!

  3. My favorite movie is the Little Mermaid..but I think it is amazing how all Disney movies stand the test of time. I went to Disney World on Wednesday and was so excited the entire time I was there. I cannot wait to share the Disney experience with my children in the future.

  4. There are so many movies that I could watch over and over including The Sound of Music, Forrest Gump, any animated Disney classic and my personal favorite The Princess Bride.

  5. I LOVED The Never-ending Story when I was a kid. I had kinda completely forgotten about it until you mentioned it! Would you believe my husband has never seen it?! We may need to find it on Netflix so he can see it. It is classic!

  6. I love Gone With The Wind. Obviously it being a period piece helps, but I think it’s amazing that 70 or so years after it was released, there are still people who discover it (like me!) and fall in love with the story.

  7. I adore the neverending story. so much so that my cat is named Atreyu and my cockatiel is Falkor. My boyfriend and I like to be nerds and sit in our living room going, “Falkor” Atreeyyyuuuu” “Falkorrrr” “Atreeyyyuu” over and over (lonely island, anyone?) Yeah, we entertain ourselves, lol. The first two movies stand the test of time, but the third stinks.

  8. My cat’s name is Bastion 🙂 My ex named him after the boy in the Neverending Story. Think I’ve only seen it once though and I don’t remember a thing about it. Also, I see now on Wiki that my cat’s name is spelled wrong. Lovely. That’s going to bother the crap outta me now! LOL

  9. I tried your recipe of avocado spaghetti, it was soooo good! BTW, can you tell me what’s the screen of your macbook? Is it 13inch or 15inch? I have a 13 inch mac air, it’s really easy to carry but I found that the screen was too small especially when I am watching movie. How’s your macbook? Do you prefer the 15 inch one or 13 inch? Thank you:)

  10. So silly and it probably doesn’t stand the test of time for anyone else, but Troop Beverly Hills with Shelley Long. Favorite. Movie. Ever. I watched it approximately one zillion times before I turned 10 and bought it on DVD off eBay a few years ago.

Good luck with your cert, it seems like you will make a great coach!

  11. Funny you should ask what movies stand the test of time, because I was just re-watching a bunch of my favorites. I got super ill from antibiotics and only things from my childhood sounded comforting. In fact, I rented Neverending Story from the library, plus the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (not that Johnny Depp atrocity), and Flight of the Navigator. Remember that movie? I was surprised by how good it still is! I also rewatched Sound of Music, which I watched a zillion times as a kid and still love (and love to sing along to). That’s my list!

  12. Goonies, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Pretty Woman, Don’t Tell Mon the Babysitter’s Dead. Adventures in Babysitting… those are all pretty darn epic.

  13. “The Money Pit” with Tom Hanks and Shelly Long is my favorite movie of all time! It is just flat out awesome…Have a beautiful weekend and enjoy this gorgeous weather! 🙂

  14. I’m a sucker for the underdog, my favorite movie that stands the test of time is Norma Rae. But actually my 17 year old loves the Breakfast Club so I guess that stands up as well. And she’s got a bit of a crush on Rob Lowe and Robert Downey Jr., so they’ve also stood the test of time!

  15. i can’t believe that song came on the radio, haha! i love the neverending story. new found glory’s remake of that song is such a feel good tune 🙂 the first time i saw them play it, i freaked out!

  16. Jurassic Park. I will never stop watching that movie. I have seen it at least a 1,000 times with out exaggeration and I could watch it another 1,000 times. When my boyfriend and I were at the theatre to see another movie and the theme song came on for the preview for the 3D one, I jumped in my seat and started smacking his arm. It was involuntary. I’ve never been so excited for a movie to come out in theaters.
