Reese, the beagle, knows exactly how I feel after today’s marathon excitement: exhausted and ready to snooze on the couch! But, first, I want to share some photos from the big race, so here’s a bunch from the day.Ā
Downtown Boston, near Mass Ave, was packed withĀ spectators!Ā

As soon as the first runners came through, the crowdsĀ erupted into non-stop cheering!Ā
We saw the women’s elite runners around mile 25. I was routing so hard for Kara Goucher (in the pink top). I wish she had won!Ā
The men’s winner, Ethiopia’s Deriba Merga, followed behind the women just a few minutes later. He was hauling ass up that hill!Ā
The pack of runners followed a little while later.Ā
Runners turning onto Boylston Street… almost done!Ā
The finish line is right around the corner!Ā
DinnerĀ
Tonight’s dinner was a quickie recipe from Real Simple. I swear you can’t go wrong with a fast and easy recipe fromĀ Real Simple, especiallyĀ when you’re not at all in the mood to cook! For dinner, I had Garlicky Pinto BeansĀ with a big salad packed full of veggies.Ā
I’m feeling lazy tonight, so I didn’t snap a picture of my dinner– instead I borrowed one from theĀ Real Simple website. š³
I’m off to get organized for the work week– at least it’s only 4 days! G’night, guys!Ā

Love all the marathon excitement! Thanks for sharing the pictures!
Those beans look wonderful! Glad the marathon was fun. Wish I could see it.
Great pics!! I happened upon the Chicago marathon one year, and the energy was electric! The beans look amazing too š

Your picture of the pot of beans was WAY better than Real Simple’s! š
I’ve never read Real Simple, but all of the recipes you use from there seem great!
I was also cheering for Kara via the net! Too bad she didn’t win.. she looked really disappointed in the end.
By the way, do you have a recap somewhere about how you felt after your 30 day yoga challenge?? Notice any changes in your bod? Sorry if I’ve missed it somewhere!
awesome pictures. I was screaming for Kara and I am SCREAMING for her to pick it up but it just wasn’t mean to be. That picture if great, was that right after she threw off her gloves
I watched the elite runners come through Kenmore! Merga – astoundingly – did not look like he had just run 25 miles. Unbelievable.
Wow… what an event! Very cool.
Cute beagle picture! I took my dog out walking on Saturday and check out her exhausted look: http://seesaraheat.wordpress.com/2009/04/18/tired-dog/
Haha, great marathon recap and love the beans, I had beans for dinner last night too!
I love the pics of the elites! That’s the one downfall to running the marathon – you miss all the excitement and have no idea who wins until much later. It was a great day to run and I’m so glad the rain held off!! Congrats to the other runners!
Love the marathon pics – Kara Goucher is from my home state (MN) š We are all very proud here! I also loved the picture of Reese. I have a beagle named Sally and I absolutely love beagles!!
