I Bet You Didn’t Know V

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Do you remember my I Bet You Didn’t Know posts? If you missed them, here are the 4 others I’ve written so far:

These kinds of posts are fun for me to write because I get to share random (and maybe interesting?) things about myself with you guys. So, without further ado, here’s the next edition of I Bet You Didn’t Know!

I bet you didn’t know”¦

Murphy has a middle name and it’s “Piranha.” As a puppy he used to roll on his back, spazz-out, and try to bite everything that came his way. His little teeth reminded us of piranha teeth, so the name stuck. Doesn’t “Murphy P. Haupert” sound all fancy and proper? It’s kind of funny because he’s obviously not either of those things.

My sister is pregnant! It’s been the toughest secret to keep because our family is SO excited, especially since it’s the first great grandchild on my mom’s side of the family. I can’t wait to be an aunt, and I’ve already spent a ridiculous amount of time on Pinterest pinning baby shower ideas and cute baby products. Yay, baby!

When I make my Mom’s Apple Crisp, I typically eat about 3/4 of it myself, which means Mal doesn’t get to have very much of it. I’m a terrible wife when it comes to sharing apple crisp.

Since Halloween, Mal and I have been hiding a plastic skull around the house in various places trying to scare one another. Most of the time, a few days pass before one of us finds it, so we’ll forget about it and then it will pop up and startle us. Last week, for instance, Mal put the skull in the microwave and it scared the crap out of me! I was not expecting to see a spooky face staring back at me when I went to reheat my lunch. Ha! Don’t worry, his payback is coming! Mhahaha!

Sometimes, when I drink, I like to run. I went to college in upstate New York where it was balls-cold in the winter, so after parties, my roommate and I would often run home. We’d be drunk and tired and just want to get back to our room, so running (obviously) made perfect sense and it kept us warm. Nowadays, I still sometimes like to run when I am drunk. Random.

After breakfast this morning, I did a little work and then met Kerrie for a hot power yoga class at Open Doors. It was a great hour-long class that moved quickly and had me sweating buckets. During the inversions toward the end of class, I felt like I was drowning in sweat because it was dripping in my eyes and up my nose! I’m one sweaty beast!

After yoga, I came home and reheated a bunch of leftovers for lunch: Light & Cheesy Egg Bake and Sweet Potato Wedges.

I also ate a Harry & David pear that my Grammie sent us for Christmas. Best gift ever.

Now I’m off to Starbucks to get some work done. I need a change of scenery”¦ and, ok, I just really want a Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since last night!

Enjoy the evening, friends!

  1. That college picture is priceless! I have a picture of myself from freshman year where my face is entirely painted as a cheetah- I then stood around the corner and jumped out at people in my dorm. Ahh college- those were fun times!

  2. Haaa! That college picture is amazing.
You and Mal crack me up. I love how much fun you have with eachother.
Oh and being an aunty is the best!!

  3. My golden retriever, Madison, also has a middle name. Before we got her we would jokingly tell people that we were going to name her Diane (my mom’s name). So I decided to keep it around as her middle name!

  4. Haha, too funny because I like to run too when I’m drunk. Okay, so it’s a bit more dangerous but so much more fun! There’s an idea”¦a drunk 5k! Oh Lord, that could be horrific but hilarious at the same time. 🙂
Congrats to your sister! What great news around this time of year!

  5. I laughed at Murphy’s “proper” name! My roommate and I raised three kitten brothers that also had ridiculously formal full names: Reginald Octavius “Hamster,” Rupert the Great “Auk”, and Raymundo “Stripey Stripe.”

We can’t decide which is more ridiculous: those really long names, or the fact that we have a cat named “Stripey Stripe.” Haha. =D Thanks for sharing.

  6. Ha I like to run when I drink, and fast too! Every quarter my school has an undie run at midnight the week of finals. The only way I can manage to stay warm is to drink myself a sweater and then run super fast! It works out well, I even get a little workout in there because I wake up sore the next day everytime 🙂

  7. Those are great random facts.

I definitely feel you on the drunk running in college. When I lived in residence, we use to be too cheap to pay for coat check (as those $2 could be used towards drink) so we would never have jackets. As such, at the end of the night, we’d race home- freezing the entire time. Now I look at 18 year olds (I live in Canada so you can go to the bar at 18) without jackets and think to myself “You guys are crazy!”

  8. I run when I’m drunk too–and not just run, I sprint! I have found that when I have had a few drinks my legs feel a little numb, so I can run as fast as I want and not worry about my legs starting to hurt 🙂

  9. The running when you’re drunk one makes me laugh because I’m in college right now and my friends and I do the same thing! It makes getting home so much faster and less painful haha

  10. I remember getting stopped by the Chester Arthur statue one time running back to our room from a party. The campus patrol certainly had their fun with us!

Congrats on being an Aunt – I noticed you pinning baby shower things a couple weeks ago and wondered who was pregnant.

  11. Congrats to your sister!! That’s such exciting news. And I just have to say, I went to college in upstate NY too and would alwaysss run home after a night out!! I would rather sprint home in 5 minutes than take 15 minutes to walk, my friends thought I was nuts. I did take a mean digger once though…decided to run a bit slower after that one! haha

  12. Congrats to your sister!! I love being an aunt! My little sis is 5 days past due….so I am anxiously awaiting the news of the arrival of a little boy 🙂

I want a salted caramel hot cocoa. Mmmmm. EnJOY! Starbucks’ is the bomb.

  13. I love your admission to drunk running. I once was on vacation in Turks & Caicos and most days after having a few afternoon cocktails on the beach would then head to the resort gym and run on the treadmill. Some of the best runs I’ve experienced to date! 🙂

  14. so is my sister! First grandkid for my parents and I’m sooo excited to be an Auntie!! I’ll be checking out your pin board for sure!

  15. i used always used to try to run back from bars in college!! sometimes i’d get a friend or two who wanted to, or other times i would just run a little ahead and back again …i must have been so obnoxious

  16. Your skull game cracks me up. Love it! Years ago my cousin, brother and I did the same thing with a creepy stuffed bird we found at my aunt’s. Hilarious! I screamed like a baby when they got me!

Loving your excuse to have hot chocolate, too!

  17. I too went to college in upstate new york so I know all about it being cold after parties and just wanting to be in my bed. Running was a necessity. Haha.

  18. Congrats on becoming at aunt! It will be so much fun to spoil your little neice or nephew. My husband and I HAD our own version of the skull. It was a plastic, red lobster that we would hide in random places (like the underwear drawer)! Sadly it lost all of its little lobster legs and we had to throw it away this year. Now I need to look for a new SCARE item to add to our family.

  19. I’m from Upstate NY (and went to college there, too), and winters are the absolute worst. My roommates and I used to run home after weekend festivities, too. Oh, and since we were on the basketball team, we usually ended up shooting some hoops on an outdoor court during the spring. We would also joke that “staying hydrated” would lead to more accurate shots. 😉
