Good morning and happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
I can’t believe I haven’t written a High Low High post since January, so I figured it was about time for another. If you’re unfamiliar with this series, I recap the high and low points of the weekend. If you’d like to play along, please leave a comment with your “high low high” from the weekend. Ok, here we go!
HIGH: Getting out of the house! Woohoo! Haha! Mal was busy/away the last 3 weekends, including this one, so I asked our babysitter come for a couple of hours on Friday night, so I could get a mani-pedi with my friend Marisa.
LOW: Calling 3 different places before we were able to make ourselves an appointment. Apparently, Fridays are a happening night at nail salons!
HIGH: Having a brand new pedicure and breaking out my flip-flops. From now until mid-September, I’ll likely only wear flip-flops (and sneakers) on my feet. Yesssss!
LOW: Quinn waking up really upset on Friday night. I have no idea what happened (maybe a nightmare?), but he woke up screaming and it took me 1.5 hours to calm him down and get him back to sleep.
HIGH: Quinn sleeping until 6:30 AM the next morning. I was really thankful since I didn’t get to bed until almost midnight.
LOW: Sitting in Saturday morning traffic on 93. (HOW?! WHYYYYY??! Ugh, 93 makes me mental.)
HIGH: Babies and Bagels. Mal was away for a bachelor weekend, so the ladies of the guys on the trip got together for a play date. It was so fun and the bagels/muffins/breakfast sandwiches were incredible!
LOW: Quinn had a blast at Babies and Bagels, but sleeping on the drive home messed up his afternoon nap.
HIGH: Somehow, though, he managed to rally and we had a great afternoon together. (Usually, if he doesn’t get a substantial nap, he’s a total crank monster.) We went grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s (Q-Man’s favorite – he loves the free samples) and then played at a nearby playground for a couple of hours.

LOW (I think): Watching Fuller House. Even though it was super cheesy, I actually liked the first episode. But, by the third episode, I was kind of over it. I really liked Full House back in the day, so I may give it another try. There’s just something about the characters that keeps me hooked!
HIGH: Sunday morning pancakes followed by a play date, which included a Marylou’s White Chocolate Chip iced coffee.
LOW: Having a super full bladder after drinking my iced coffee. There wasn’t anywhere to go the bathroom, and I didn’t want to end our play date, so I was a tad uncomfortable at the playground. Ha!
HIGH: Making homemade pizza with Quinn. We wanted to welcome Dada home with a tasty dinner, so we tried a new Gluten-Free Pizza Crust Mix and it turned out really well!
It was so easy to make and tasted just like regular homemade pizza dough!

High was coming home to my family after a week of travel. Low was waking up to snow Sunday morning!
Snow???? Ughhhh.
High: Baking pancakes with the kiddos. They’re SO into us baking things together these days – I LOVEEEE it!
Low: Had to work a bit… 🙁
High: Sunday morning solo run. Happy mama!
I so want to try that pizza crust! I’ve been craving it big time lately! High from the weekend was getting all my school work done and low was not getting enough sleep. I watched a scary movie and it kept me up all night. Ugh!
lol fuller house definitely wasn’t great but i powered through since i loooooved the original!! the high of the weekend was that wiliam did his first biathlon! the low was that it’s raining once again!
High was a 10-day trip abroad to Scandinavia & celebrating my birthday at a hip hip Norwegian bar!! Low was having to come back yesterday afternoon to a bunch of work that I have to catch up on 😉
Love these posts!
High: My wedding shower!
Low: Feeling like I didn’t have a weekend since everything was so hectic
High: Getting a mani-pedi. Much necessary since this nice weather is here to stay!
@Erica: Congratulations on your engagement!
I agree, Fuller House was a tad too cheesy for me, but I enjoyed the first episode. High of the weekend was being a bridesmaid in one of my friend’s weddings! Low was taking a late flight and getting home at 1:00am this morning and having to be at work at 545am. Ugh!
Lots of highs this weekend – Ran a 25k, saw Garth Brooks in concert, and got to shop (for the first time!) at Trader Joe’s! There isn’t one near me, but there is one in the city where the concert was, so I took full advantage. Low: Being super sore yesterday from all the running and walking around on Saturday.
High: Our first non-Mother’s Day (aka busy) weekend with my husband NOT having to work.
Low: Ellie waking up screaming at 6 am yesterday and I hadn’t even gotten up or had my coffee. Usually I try to get up before her to get a workout in, get a few things done, and most importantly, caffeinate.
High was spending a weekend away for a good friends of ours wedding. Low is probably right now feeling pretty slow after a weekend of not enough sleep and too much alcohol. Well worth it though 🙂

High: Attending Wanderlust 108. It was my first run in a looong time, and I always like yoga and free samples!
Low: The very-chilly weather on the day of Wanderlust 108. Doing yoga in three layers isn’t super comfy. 🙂
I powered through Fuller House, it wasn’t what I expected but I still liked it in a cheesy I need to do this for my childhood type of way!
I always get stuck places with nowhere to pee! It’s the worst!
High- laying in the sunshine with our friends in the Cayman Islands
Low – 15 hour travel day back home… ugh!
High-starting our vacation, low-sitting through NYC traffic on the way there! High-I’ll be in the vicinity of a Marylou’s next weekend-any recommendations for this first-timer??
My favorites are PB Wonder or White Chocolate Chip! Enjoy!!
@Tina:
Almond Joy is good too 🙂
Agreed!!
That pizza looks delicious.
High: Getting to my local beach before parking filled up.
Low: Struggling to stay motivated on Saturday to get anything done.
High: Getting in 5 and 8 mile runs in my 5K training plan. I didn’t realize how much I’d miss long distances.
High was running 4 miles in perfect weather and feeling amazing afterwards. Low was being woken up by my 7-month-old at 5:15 this morning. It’s going to be a LONG day!
93 was probably packed on Saturday morning because of graduation at Boston University (and probably some other colleges)! Sorry to hear that ”” traffic is so frustrating.
LOL a full bladder is the bane of my existence always.
HIGH: Spending the whole week with my friends at Boston University before going back home.
LOW: Saying goodbye to said friends.
High: Getting to my two favorite group fitness classes
Low: Getting an accidental head butt to my eye socket from my 6 year old. Ouch!
High: Getting to try a new healthy recipe last night!
High: Getting my maid of honor dress for my sister’s wedding. Low: Thunderstorms all week in Austin.
Your skin looks amazing lately!! A happy glow!
High: Taking our girls to the zoo. They LOVED seeing the polar bears swim around. And they sold Starbucks coffee there (parent win!).
High – Celebrating my baby’s FIRST birthday on Saturday!
Low – Ruining a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Such a waste of chocolate chips!
High – Starting my new work schedule that allows me to work from home most of my day.
Aww, so fun! Happy 1st birthday!
Quinn’s face with the pancake — too cute!!
I had the same coffee problem at the dog park on Saturday. We got iced coffees from our special “weekend only” place and drove to this massive park about 20 minutes away. It has made for an uncomfortable trip home 😛
High: Running my first charity fitness challenge!
Low: Cold, nasty weather in May. (Why??)
High: Game of Thrones!
That pizza crust is a favorite splurge in my house!! We even use it to make “wedgies” with shredded beef, provolone cheese, onion, tomato, lettuce, and mayonnaise. It’s kind of like a homemade cheesesteak pizza and it would probably be my death row meal 🙂
Those sound delicious!!
So sorry about Quinn’s nightmare! When my son was small (2-8), he would get what they call “night terrors”. It was awful to see his little face so afraid! The best thing to calm him down was whispering to him. If it happens to Quinn again, try whispering – things like “it’s ok, Mommy’s with you, you’re safe” etc, etc. Whisper to him about pleasant things you guys do, like the farm, getting donuts, whatever. It helped my little guy! 🙂
Ah I literally bought the bag of that crust mix yesterday and am making to tonight! So glad to hear it turned out well 🙂
