Happy 2015, friends!
The start of a new year means: NEW GOALS! And you guys know how much I love setting goals for myself. I do it every year: I blog about my goals on CNC and then I check-in with myself halfway through the year and then again at the end of the year to see how things went. Setting goals helps me keep my eye on the prize and motivates me each and every day to work toward them.
That said, I’m so happy to be working with Kohls on their Make Your Move campaign in the new year. They’re all about moving more, stressing less, and eating and sleeping better. We all know these things are key to living well, so, in the coming weeks, I will blog about some of the things that energize, motivate, and bring me joy as I try to live a healthier and happier life in 2015””starting with my goals for the new year!
But, first, let’s see how I did with my goals for 2014!
Give birth to a healthy baby – Yes! Quinn is a happy, healthy baby, who is obsessed with Murphy and remote controls!
Have a fit pregnancy – Yes! I did CrossFit on a regular basis until I was 38 weeks pregnant (as well as heavy squats at 40 weeks, 6 days, which was the day before Quinn was born). I absolutely, 100% believe staying active throughout my pregnancy helped me bounce back so quickly!
Turn our guest room into the most adorable nursery ever – Yes! I don’t think I ever shared photos of the finished project, so here are a few!
Separate work and home – This was a constant work-in-progress during 2014, but (I think) I’ve finally figured it out””well, I pretty much had to with a baby! Quinn now goes to daycare two days a week while I work at home, which means I’m not blogging at 2:00 AM anymore. Hooray! Having a set time devoted to work every week definitely helps me feel more balanced with all of the various parts of my life, which ultimately makes me a better wife and mom.
Finish book #2 without having a mental breakdown – Yes! I actually don’t think I cried once during the book writing process! Haha!
Slow down; stop and smell the roses – Nope. Fail. BUT, I’m trying again with this goal in 2015.

My goals for 2015
Roll with it
I’m not sure how to describe this goal other than “roll with it,” but it goes along with my “slow down; stop and smell the roses” goal for 2014. Last year, was EASILY the hardest year of my life. (Remember: Blogs are like reality TV””you don’t see everything that happens.) I think God knew it was going to be a doozy-of-a-year, so He gave us Quinn to help us get through it, so, other than that little dude, it was a rough 12 months for the Haupert family. So, in 2015, I want to be more relaxed, balanced, positive, grateful, and just appreciate the little things in life. And, when the sh*t hits the fan, I just want to roll with it and play the cards that I’m dealt.
Run the Boston Marathon
This is my BIG fitness goal for the year. Stonyfield has given me such an amazing opportunity in running the Boston Marathon with their blogger team, and I am forever grateful and plan to train hard smart, so I can cross the finish line with a HUGE smile on my face. Go Team Stonyfield!!
I’m all about having the right gear to get me through my marathon training this winter, so I’ve been checking out what Kohls has to offer. (Did you know they sell a TON of workout clothes?!) Here are some of the pieces that I currently have my eye on!
- FILA SPORT® Curve 1/4-Zip Printed Fleece-Lined Pullover
- Tek Gear Melange Neck Warmer
- Tek Gear® Fleece Curved Pocket Hoodie <— very Lululemon-esque and on sale for $17.99 right now!
- New Balance NB Heat Fleece Running Tights <— these have gotten amazing reviews!
- ASICS Lite-Show Favorite Half-Zip Running Top
- PRO-FORM Pro 4500 Treadmill <— total wish list item, but a treadmill would making winter running a whole lot easier!
Beat Kerrie at a WOD
My workout buddy Kerrie is a beast. She’s such an amazing athlete, and I want to beat her at a workout so badly””just one would make me happy! Haha! But, seriously, she’s a great friend and constant motivation for me to push myself when it comes to fitness.
Travel with Quinn
One thing that Mal and I miss quite a lot since having Quinn is traveling. Growing up, Mal traveled a ton with his family and has great memories from those adventures, so it’s definitely something we want to do with Quinn. Our goal is to take at least 3 family trips in 2015.
Drink more smoothies
Smoothies are such an easy and delicious way to add more nutrients to your diet. I love smoothies, but I only make them every once in awhile, so my goal is to make at least 2 each week.
Stop saying “like” so much
Monica and I chat on WhatsApp a few times a day, which made me realize just how much I say “like” when I talk to her. I find it super annoying, so it’s a habit that I really want to break, so, you know, I don’t sound like a ditsy valley girl when I talk. Haha!
Unsubscribe from five junk emails each week
My inbox is so darn stressful. A lot of the emails I receive are straight up junk, so I want to actively unsubscribe from some of them each week. My plan is to unsubscribe from five email lists every Monday morning before I start working.
Questions of the Day
What are your goals for 2015? How do you plan to “make your move” this year?
