Good morning!
Last night, when I was waiting for Mal to come to bed, Murphy and I had some serious cuddle time together. He got all “croissant-y” and curled up in a tight ball right next to me.
As I laid there cuddling him, I realized just how much I love his pug smell, which we call “Frito face” in our house. It’s like “Frito feet” that a lot of dogs have, but (obviously) on his face. (Don’t worry, we clean his squishy face with wipes every other week or so.) I told Mal that I love Murphy’s “Frito face,” and he agreed it’s one of his favorite smells too.
Other smells I love”¦
Freshly ground coffee from Starbucks
During my junior and senior years of high school and my freshman year of college, I worked at Starbucks as a barista. Besides manning the bar and making delicious drinks, my other favorite duty was grinding beans for customers. I loved scooping the fresh whole beans from the drawers, pouring them into the grinder, and enjoying the smells that developed. I pretty much love the smell of any freshly ground coffee, but Starbucks is one of my favorites.
Vanilla frosting
Vanilla (or yellow) cake with vanilla frosting is one of my favorite things ever to eat, but I also just love the smell of vanilla frosting””even artificial vanilla frosting smells”¦ Bonne Bell Vanilla Lip Smacker, Pinnacle Cake Vodka, scented candles, lotion”¦ if it smells like vanilla frosting, I’ll probably love it!
Rose The One by Dolce & Gabbana
I was never a big perfume person until my friend Ashley gave me Rose The One by Dolce & Gabbana. It’s really subtle with a soft rose smell that’s sophisticated, but still sort of fun too. I have 3 fragrances in my regular rotation now, but this one is by far my favorite. It smells pretty!
Pretty much any Yankee Candle
I have no idea how they make their candles smell so amazing, but I love pretty much all Yankee Candles. Whenever I see one of their stores, I always make it a point to go in. I end up smelling a million different candles and always leave with a headache from overdoing it! Haha!
Breakfast
Yesterday’s breakfast was a French Toast Breakfast Scramble with a couple of scoops of Teddie peanut butter and a glass of iced Dandy Blend (because we ran out of decaf coffee). I actually missed drinking Dandy Blend. I can’t say that I like it more than coffee, but it is really delicious. It has more of an espresso than coffee flavor, so it’s just different””delicious, of course, but different.

LOVE the smell of fresh ground coffee. The year after I graduated college, I joined this church that had their own coffee shop, and my favorite job was brewing coffee because it involved grinding beans. So delicious!
I also love Bond Girl from Avon (it might be gone now, but when “Quantum of Solace” came out a few years ago, it was huge!), and Country Chic from Bath & Body Works (I might be biased. I work there).
I really like the smell of laundry and Mrs. Meyers lavender cleaning products. There is also a pineapple cilantro candle that I cannot get enough of…
Finally, perfume and sunscreen. Certain smells totally take me back to a special moment or vacation.
I love the smell of bakery’s, oh so good!
I love the smell of freshly ground coffee, too. Or any coffee for that matter–I’m addicted! Fresh laundry is another one of my favorites, and this may sound weird, but I’m a fan of the “new car smell.” It screams new and clean! 😉
Hazlenut Coffee probably ranks as #1 for me! You’re right Yankee Candles are the best. Another smell I love is this lemon lipgloss from Bath & Body Works http://www.bigelowchemists.com/bigelow-lemon-lip-balm-no-1421.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=productfeed&utm_campaign=googleshopping&gclid=CMLp3_nSzLQCFQ45nAodxioAfA
So funny that you say dog’s feet smell like fritos. I’ve always thought that too! I love that smell, as gross as it is haha
So funny you say that Pug faces are so cute, yet so stinky!! Baby wipes are a pugs best friend!
Definitely the Yankee Candles. Just how do they do it? Once I smelled a candle that was French Bagette Flavored. How on Earth do they make wax smell like French Carbs?? I don’t know, but hey, I ain’t complainin’! 🙂
@Avery @ Southern Belle Living Well: Haha! I know, right? I want to smell that candle now!
I love the smell of freshly baked bread, various sorts of chocolate, my husband, and hair after it’s been cut & washed at a salon! I also love the smell of cinnamon. SO much!
I had to let you know that since becoming obsessed with your sweet breakfast scramble, I’ve made a rather revolutionary (in my opinion..) discovery. I started added a touch of ginger and nutmeg to it and it tastes like gingerbread! It’s definitely my new fave 🙂
Also, have you tried it with spaghetti squash? Amazing! When I cook it, it looks like spaghetti and meat sauce haha!
@Brittany @ Barr & Table: So glad you like the breakfast scramble! It’s one of my favorite breakfasts!
Yep, I’ve tried spaghetti squash! I actually ate it on New Year’s Eve with a meat and veggie sauce. I also use it in this recipe for Pad Thai: http://carrotsncake.com/2012/09/kettlebell-wod-paleo-pad-thai.html It’s amazing! 🙂
@Tina: I actually meant have you tried it as the squash part of the breakfast scramble.. I love the different texture from the spaghetti squash as opposed to pumpkin or other squash!
Love the immediate whiff of walking into Starbucks!
@Khushboo: I love that too! 🙂
thanks for the coupon code. I wanted one when you reviewed it but didn’t order until today. I can’t wait to put it to use:)
@Tracy: Nice! Let me know what you think of it! 🙂
After I read that dog’s feet smell like popcorn, I smelled my dog’s feet, but no good. 🙁
I love the smell of vanilla (which is why I love my Sensi by Armani perfume).
This post made me smile. I also have a pug and I too love his “frito” smell. I also love to smell the sides of his face near his ears. Weird? Probably. It’s just so comforting.
Tina,
I am considering ordering the flip belt and wondered if you had any advice on the sizing. It sounds like a cool product!
@Tara: Cool! Did you happen to see the sizing chart on their website? http://www.flipbelt.com/the-flipbelt/ They seem pretty true to size. I ordered a small and it fits really well– snug, but not tight on my hips.
COFFEE! Seriously, just opening a bag of Starbucks whole bean sumatra makes me delirious. I also love the way the top of my kids heads smell. It’s weird but it’s a mixture of baby wash and stinky kid. I love frito feet too and puppy breath.
This is hilarious because I always say my dog lily smells like tortilla chips!! Ha, I think I am the only one who smells it though because my husband looks at me crazy when i say it!
I love the smell of coffee! There is a doughnut shop near my apartment, and I love going for early morning runs when they are baking their doughnuts-it is the best smell ever but so tempting!
I love apples and cinnamon candles or anything coffee! And the smell of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies!
So funny you say that about Murphy. I have a black pug — Stewie — and when he’s all curled up and sleeping, my husband and I say he’s working his shift at the Frito factory. If one of us goes over to pet him, he’ll usually roll over for a belly rub and we are hit with that pug scent! lol We’re weird.
I am barista! My husbands family owns an espresso stand. My favorite part is putting the bean in the grinder! I wish I could bottle the smell up and then make a Yankee candle out of it.
That would be amazing!!!
Ha, I was just telling my husband that I thought our dogs feet smelled like corn chips! Glad i’m not the only one.
Thanks for the flipbelt code! I almost ordered one yesterday but i’m glad I waited!!
That’s hilarious!! We know our pug is ready for a bath when she starts smelling “like a corn chip” as my husband says. I guess we’re onto something lol…
My favorite smells are kind of odd: the smell of dirt after it has just rained and the essential oil Thieves!
xx Kait
I love the smell of freshly baked bread, homemade tomato sauce on the stove, vanilla, and the salted caramel candle from Bath & Body Works!
I’m with you on anything vanilla. I had this vanilla body spray back in junior high and I was absolutely obsessed with it. I’m also obsessed with the warm vanilla sugar scent from Bath and Body Works. It’s amazing!
I love the smell of my cat! When she’s cuddled up beside me or when I hold her, I get a little whiff of the smell of her fur. I can’t really describe the smell, but it just makes me happy. I know people may think it’s weird, so the only person I’ve told was my boyfriend! He gets it though 🙂
For me, it’s the two B’s….burning leaves and bacon!
I love the smell of coffee, fresh baked bread & one of my other favorites that I’m not sure a lot of people agree with, is a tire store. It just smells amazing to me.
Omg I LOVE the way my pug Oscar smells! It is my absolute FAVORITE smell! 🙂 He’s got salty little feets and a salty little pug face and its wonderful. I often hear people say their pugs faces smell bad or fishy, but mine smells so cute! So glad I’m not crazy! No one ever understands (except my mother-a pug lover).
Once again, I am writing you in regard to the coffee beans and scoop photo of mine that you have used in this blog post. You have not linked to the source of the original image as I have requested numerous times now. If you are not willing to link the image to http://jason-politte.artistwebsites.com/featured/coffee-beans-with-scoop-jason-politte.html then I request that you take the image down immediately.
My next step will be filing a DMCA takedown notice. I would rather not do that, but inaction on your part will leave me no alternative.
Thank you,

I changed the link, but I guess it wasn’t the correct one, so I removed the photo.
@Tina: Thank you. Yes, the link was changed after my initial request some time ago. The image source link went straight to the page where the image was displayed originally, and that was great. I was happy to see that you had complied with my request and was happy that you liked my image enough to use it for this wonderful blog poast. However, when I came back again a bit later to make sure the link was still proper, it had been changed back to just a link to the .jpg. I don’t know what happened between now and then, but the link reverted back to how it was originally.
As I said earlier, you’re more than welcome to use the image, but it’s only right to give the photographer credit and link back to the original source. To not do so is like someone copying and pasting your blog post here and posting it to their own blog as their own.
Thank you, Tina and have a great weekend.
