October’s fitmixer Ambassador topic is “fitness + inspiration = fitspiration,” so I was asked to share an inspirational quote or saying that is directly or indirectly related to fitness and/or healthy living and why I like it so much.

As you know, I love motivational quotes, especially when they’re related to fitness. I actually have a few different boards on Pinterest devoted to them (Fitness Inspiration, CrossFit Motivation, and Favorite Quotes), and I frequently blog about my favorite quotes and why I feel so inspired by them. So, not surprisingly, it took me a little awhile to pick just one for this post.

Here are a few of the quotes I considered:

But, I ultimately went with my favorite quote ever that applies to so many things in life:

Technically, my favorite quote is “good things happen to people who work hard,” but I like this one better since it has more of an edge. I truly believe if you work hard and never give up, good things will happen to you– with regard to fitness and all other aspects of your life.

  1. I gotta go with Just Do It. — I hate working out but every time I complain my boyfriend says “Just Do It” and I get it done. Cliche, maybe. But it works for now.

  2. I agree! Whenever I’m giving it my all and working hard, I find I have good luck and great things happen! When I’m in a big slog, nothing happens… So more motivation to get off my butt and make life happen!!

  3. I have a million just like you.
    However, my favorite is one I kind of developed myself recently.
    Dealing with an injury and it has been really rough. Lots of cancelled races, so:
    Not no doesn’t mean not ever!

  4. Like you I have a million favorite quotes but one of my favorites are: “Quitters don’t win, winners don’t quick!” It always makes me stay focused and work even harder 🙂

  5. Love the inspirational quotes. I don’t have a ‘go to’ quote, it usually depends on where I am in my life.

  6. I have so many quotes running through my mind everyday as a reminder of what needs to keep me going. My favorite for this chapter of my life:
    “When you travel, remember that a foreign country is not designed to make you comfortable. It is designed to make its own people comfortable.”

    Living as an American in Seoul, S. Korea: I remind myself of this when motorcycles fly past me on the SIDEWALKS or when teachers helplessly correct me in Korean in dance classes and I can only catch a world or two…it is an EXPERIENCE and just putting myself in it every day, comfortable or not, keeps me going!

  7. My fav quote is: “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” Quotes can be so powerful! 🙂

  8. My favorite quote is “No Matter How Slow You Go, You Are Still Lapping Everyone on the Couch.” I used to really be a couch potato and so amping up running has been a slow process for me. I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the run ahead of me and how long it is, but then I think that it doesn’t matter how slow I go as long as I’m going, I’m better than the potato I used to be

I also love inspirational/motivational quotes as well and I have a number that I use sort of like mantras when I am working toward a goal, especially in fitness. “If you’re tired of starting over, then stop giving up” and ” Don’t give up what you ultimately want, for what you want right now.” I love these two because they focus on discipline, which for me has been a major factor in my health and fitness, and has become even more important now that I’ve started CrossFit. For the first time, i’m seeing myself really change my entire lifestyle with a longer-term mindset, rather than a short-term “diet” mindset.

  10. My favorite that I keep in my car where I can see it all the time: “Work it like it all depends on you. Pray like it all depends on God.” Too many times we do one without the other and get disappointed when changes don’t happen.
