Fishin’ for the Rest of My Salmon

Hi, guys! Happy Hump Day!

I can’t believe it’s already 3:30 pm – today has totally flown by. Mal and I went to New Hampshire and back, which included nearly 4 hours in the car. Oy. At least we had some quality time together, right?

The morning also flew by, so breakfast was grab-and-go: Cashew Collagen Balls x 3 + iced coffee with vanilla Ripple.

It was “Dress Up Day” at school, so Quinn wore his eagle costume. Remember it from a few years ago? He was so tiny!

After we dropped Quinn at school, we battled traffic for what seemed liked forever before arriving at the office of our financial advisor, CPA, and life insurance officers. We made back-to-back appointments will all of them. We ended up being in meetings all morning and into the early afternoon, so it’s a good thing I had a Atlas Bar to snack on before we headed in.

After our meetings, we battled more traffic. By then, I desperately needed a “real” meal, so I was pumped to visit Del Frisco’s Grille for lunch. Mal and I went for an influencer event when it first opened and had a great time, so we were excited to dine there again. Wine? Wine not!

Unfortunately, the Kale & Brussels Sprout Salad with salmon that I ordered was less than stellar. The piece of salmon was tiny, a bit under-cooked (even though I asked for it well-done), and there wasn’t any Manchego cheese on top, which I was very much looking forward to. I debated sending it back to the kitchen, but we needed to get home to walk Murphy and pick up Quinn from school, so I just ate it. It wasn’t terrible by any means, but it was still a bit of a bummer, especially for $24!

Question of the Day

When dining out, if your food isn’t quite right, do you send it back or just deal?

    1. @kolya: I agree that salad doesn’t look good at all especially for $24. Geez plus the salmon wasn’t cooked right… I’ve always been afraid to send something back to the kitchen… never know what they’re going to do. I typically do what was done in this blog… i just eat it and get it over with.

  1. That salad was $24? Heckkkkkkkkkkk no. Nine times out of ten, if I’m not satisfied with what I’ve ordered, I’ll share that with the server almost immediately. They’re usually more than happy to make things right. I would have spoken up! It’s your food and your money and their service!

  2. I hate sending food back because I know people in food service have a tough job, especially if the wait staff is really nice. But if something major was messed up – like no chicken on a salad when I asked for chicken, I’ll send it back.

  3. That looks like 2 oz of salmon! If that was like a $12 salad, I would probably understand…. Hope the wine was good 🙂

  4. Unless it’s something that I can’t eat (allergies) I will usually just eat it and move on. I get nervous to send food back in case someone is having a bad day and wants to mess with my food! Probably just paranoia, but in general I try to be understanding that mistakes happen and don’t want to make a big deal about it.

  5. Ugh, that’s the worse when you’re looking forward to a certain mini detail of a meal and it just doesn’t happen! (Crazy how it’s the little things that get to us, but anywho.) If a dish is served not as it should be sometimes I just send it back and order something else. You were very gracious and patient for such an expensive salad!
