Have I mentioned how much I love Fitbloggin’? Oh, yea, I have. Best.Conference.Ever.
Lunch
The second part of Friday started with lunch, which was provided by the hotel/Fitbloggin’. Once again, I was happy to see so many healthy options, including fresh veggies, pickled veggies, fruit salad, sliced turkey and chicken, smoked salmon, balsamic-marinated Portobello mushrooms, and carrot-ginger soup. After two back-to-back workouts that morning, I was psyched to eat!
Snack
After lunch, a group of us took a walk to Kure Juice Bar for fresh juice and smoothies.
Kure was awesome! (Not kidding, I visited 3 times in 2 days. I was a tad obsessed with it.) There were so many delicious-sounding juices, smoothies, and acai bowls, I had trouble deciding what I wanted. Seriously, it took me a good 5 minutes to make a decision.
Eventually, I decided on the Portland Farmacy, which was freshly pressed juice made with cucumber, celery, spinach, kale, parsley, romaine, lime, apple, and cayenne. It actually tasted a lot like the juice I make at home””minus the parsley and cayenne””so it gave me some great ingredient ideas!
We love juice!
After our juice outing, we headed back to the conference to attend a session hosted by Reebok called “How to Find the Perfect Shoe for You.” We learned about the different constructions for running shoes versus training shoes. Running shoes are built to move forward while training shoes are meant to move in all different directions. Training shoes also have a more stable platform and don’t typically have as much cushion as running shoes. For example, the Reebok Nano 2.0 is a training shoe that is meant to move in all different directions, so they hold up better than a running shoe for workouts like CrossFit where you do all kinds of different movements.
After the session, Gina, Julie, Anne, and I headed outside to explore Portland and enjoy the beautiful weather. Heather had told us about a pretty 3-mile loop she ran along the waterfront the day before, so we decided to take a long walk together.
After our walk, we headed back to the hotel where we showered, changed our clothes, and prettied ourselves for a night out in Portland.
Our first stop of the evening was at Noble Rot where we met the lovely ladies of Porter Novelli, a PR agency who manages The Laughing Cow, SOYJOY, and Nature Made accounts.
Noble Rot was a great place to enjoy a drink and some good conversation. It was bright, open, and airy with a long bar and cozy booths with couches and low cocktail tables.
Porter Novelli treated us to some drinks, so I enjoyed a glass of white wine.
And then part of a delicious cocktail made with vodka, muddled strawberry, lime juice, and fresh sage.
It was so great to spend some time with Brittney from The Laughing Cow. We email all the time, so it was awesome to have some in-person conversation with her. She’s the nicest!
Dinner
After happy hour, Anne, Julie, Gina, and I met Allie from Fanscape, who treated us to dinner at The Farm Café.
The Farm Café was amazing””adorable décor, friendly wait staff, and a menu full of dishes made from fresh, local ingredients. Everything on the menu sounded so good!
To start, I ordered the kale and fennel salad, which was served with pumpkin seeds and a light lemon dressing. It was awesome. Must recreate at home.
And, for the my entrée, I ordered the Cajon Rock Fish, which was incredible. The seasoning was out of this world, and it was served on roasted summer squash with brown rice and a lemony yogurt sauce. OMG, I loved it. It was definitely one of those meals I’ll never forget.
One more day of Fitbloggin’ adventures to come!
