Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

I saw this survey on Ashley‘s blog the other day, and I thought it would make a fun post on CNC, so here goes! Feel free to play along in the comment section and share what is currently on your mind.

Current Celebration: My birthday on Friday and our friends’ wedding on Saturday””lots to celebrate this weekend!

Current Confession: I’m so glad that I took monthly photos of Quinn (with Murphy) to see how much he changed over the course of his first year, but I’m so thankful we’re done with them now. Once Quinn was a lot more mobile, it was always quite a challenge to get him to sit still and snap a good pic. I pretty much gave up on 11 months and 1 year, as you can see below. We were over it. Haha!

Current Product Find: Andalou Naturals. I feel like my esthetician let me in on a big secret when she told me about this line of beauty products. It uses Fruit Stem Cell Science with natural, fair-trade ingredients with a minimum of 70% certified organic content AND they are super affordable, like totally reasonable prices. I use the Creamy Cleanser ($9), Revitalize Serum ($20), and Night Repair Cream ($18), and I LOVE them all.

Also, Oh My Yog Madagascar Vanilla Bean Yogurt with chocolate chips. Mmm! I’ve eaten it three times already this week.

Current Plan: Finish out the school year, spend a week in Oregon with family, come home and start packing.

Current Book: I’m still reading 10% Happier, but I’m finishing the final pages. People, this book has been LIFE-CHANGING for me. Life. Changing. The waterfall metaphor alone has made my life better. If you’re a crazy/stressed-out/brain-never-stops kind of person, you MUST read this book.

Current Purchase: ALLTHECLOTHES from Gymboree. Quinn and I went on a little shopping spree the other day. There were some amazing sales, and I had a coupon for 20% off my entire order, so I feel like I bought one of everything: shoes, camo hoodie, shark jammies, robot jammies, anchor patchwork shorts, funky leaf shorts, dino tee (below), and a few other things that I can’t find online. Quinn is going to be one styling boy this summer!

Current Drink: [Iced] coffee and wine.

Current Holy Moly: Quinn playing basketball. When did my little boy learn to walk, bend over, pick up a basketball, and throw it in the air?! Holy moly. I feel like it happened overnight.

Current Show: Parenthood. We’re just starting the final season, and I can’t get enough of it. I literally have dreams about the characters.

Current Want: Brunch with Mal and Quinn at Scarlet Oak Tavern to celebrate my birthday.

Current Obsession: A capsule wardrobe. I am all over this idea and can’t wait to build mine.

Question of the Day

Your turn! Pick 3 “currents” and answer them below.

  1. I am super intrigued by the capsule wardrobe concept too! I hope you’ll do a post on your process if/when you do yours. I’m thinking about trying to do one this fall once my weight stabilizes (I had a baby in March). I have never been very good at fashion and shopping for clothes/putting together outfits is way more stressful than it is fun for me, so I am really drawn to the idea of simplifying and only having to shop once a season for a few items I love rather than randomly buying items that I end up not loving.

  2. HI Tina! I’m such a faithful reader of your blog! I wanted to ask what benefits you feel you have seen from going to an esthtician. I am currently seeing a dermatologist for my 40 yr old acne prone skin ( gosh I thought these days were behind me, lol) but seriously it sucks!!! I’m on a gentle cleanser and a new topical. She recommended a hydra facial with the esthtician and I’m just u sure. I would . Love to k ow your thoughts on. Skincare. Thanks Tina.

    1. A lot of skin issues, like acne, are related to what’s happening in the gut. Any chance you struggle with GI issues? They also could be related to hormones. All of the facial/beauty product stuff is great, but getting to the root of the problem will really make a difference. Obviously, I’m not a doctor, but just wanted to throw this info into the mix as you find a solution!

  3. Current drink: wine
    Current show: Orphan Black
Current obsession: the kittens i’m fostering

Tina…you’re going to Oregon and then coming home and packing? did I miss something? are you moving? (not trying to be nosy just didn’t understand) lol
