Happy Monday, folks! 😎

My day is already off to an interesting start. Even though I woke up bright and early this morning, I still managed to miss my bus to New York City. #fml

I wanted to fit in a quick workout before my trip, so I set my alarm for an early-morning workout at the gym. Rise ‘n’ shine! I forgot how empty the gym is at that hour. I loved it. I might start getting up early to go at this time more often.

Workout

At the gym, I ran 3 miles on the treadmill. I warmed up with a jog for the first mile and then did intervals (1 minute sprint + 2 minutes jog) for the second and third miles.

After my workout, I stopped by Marylou’s for an iced coffee. Instead of my usual Almond Joy, I went with a flavor called “Peanut Butter Wonderful.” Now, doesn’t that sound delicious? The name alone made me happy. The flavor sort of reminded me of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, but not as sweet… and mixed with coffee. I ordered mine without sugar, so I think that helped with the sweetness.

Breakfast

At home, I showered up, finished packing, walked Murphy, and then made breakfast. This morning’s eats: toast with sunflower butter and banana slices. It’s a long ride to NYC, so I made sure to load up on the nut butter. It sticks to my ribs and keeps me full for hours.

After breakfast, Mal dropped me off at the train station. He was sad to see me go. (Murphy gave me a similar look when I said goodbye to him at home. The two of them with their pouty lips”¦ jeez.)

The commuter rail experienced some issues and ended up being delayed, so I arrived at South Station about 20 minutes later than expected. My bus to NYC was scheduled to leave at 8:30, so I booked it through the terminal, but still ended up missing it.

Wah.

I waited around on standby for the 9:30 bus, which was completely sold out. It didn’t seem likely that I’d get on it, but the bus gods were with me, and I got the LAST seat on the bus. Boo.Yah. I still can’t believe it!

Snack

For the bus ride, I brought a bunch of snacks: Ginger Snap Larabar, peanut butter-filled pretzels, mixed nuts, and water. I don’t have lunch plans in NYC, so I plan to snack and then grab a cupcake in the city. Rumor has it that Crumbs is the place to go!

See ya from NYC!
