A year ago this week, I had the opportunity to attend the in Orlando, Florida. It was one of the greatest blog-related experiences I have had to date, so I wanted to share it again with all of you. I hope you enjoy the recaps!
Scenes from the Bake-Off®
There were so many great photos taken by the professional photographers at the Pillsbury Bake-Off, I just had to share them. Enjoy!
Pillsbury Bake-Off® Awards Ceremony
Last night, the judges at the 44th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest selected four category winners. One of these category winners will be named the $1 million winner live on Oprah tomorrow! The Eggland’s Best folks are especially excited because the winning recipe for Breakfast & Bunch category included EB eggs!
After the Bake-Off
Once the Pillsbury Bake-Off ended, it was time for lunch. I sampled so many of the recipes at the Bake-Off, eating a full meal was just not appetizing to me. But, because I mostly indulged in desserts, I figured having some “real food” would probably do me some good.
Wow! Now that’s what I call a food event! I’ve never seen anything like it! The Pillsbury Bake-Off was fun, exciting, and even somewhat intense at times- there was $1 million at stake! How the contest works: The 100 finalists have 4 hours to make their recipe and submit the final product to the judges.
Breakfast Before Bake-Off
Wahoo! Just about caught up! It’s been a crazy few days here in Orlando, so I’m sure you can image how easy it is to get behind with blogging. I’m glad to be back on track! If you didn’t read CNC over the weekend, here are some links to catch you up to speed!
Dinner at The Ravenous Pig
Last night, we enjoyed dinner at The Ravenous Pig, an American gastro pub in Winter Park. Dubbed one of Florida’s “Latest and Greatest” restaurants by Saveur, this new restaurant features great food and great drink in the tradition of the gastropubs of London.
Entertain with Ease Using New Cooking Technologies from GE
The final session of the day was called “Entertain with Ease Using New Cooking Technologies from GE.” The group learned about induction cooking and watched a couple of cooking demonstration using this new technology, which works via a magnetic field to provide fast, efficient cooking.
The Science of Grilling
After the morning sessions, we moved to different room where we enjoyed an interesting lecture about The Science of Grilling from Dr. Sara Risch, a food scientist and consultant to food and packaging companies. Dr. Risch shared a number of chemistry facts to help us become better cooks and ensure food safety.
Food News Seminars
After the Flavor = Taste + Mouthfeel + Aroma + “The X Factor” session, the day continued with five more informative, food-focused seminars- 3 of which are highlighted in this post.
Flavor = Taste + Mouthfeel + Aroma + “The X Factor”
Yowsahs! We had quite the full agenda today! We started at 8:30 AM and went straight through until 3:00 PM this afternoon. I have SO much great stuff to blog about now. I’m not sure that I will get it all posted today, but I’ll definitely get it up as soon as possible.
Breakfast In Bed
Good morning! Breakfast was quite a treat this morning- mostly because I enjoyed it in BED! In all of my years, I’ve never enjoyed breakfast in bed at hotel. In fact, I’ve never even ordered room service, so this was really cool for me. I wish every morning could start this way!
Backstage Dinner with Walt Disney Chefs
Tonight, we joined a number of Walt Disney World chefs in the backstage catering kitchen at Epcot for an overview of cuisines from restaurants all across the “Vacation Kingdom.” From fine dining to quick service, we received a taste of the classics as well as what’s new on the menu.
A Warm Welcome
Seriously, how is this my job!?! Right now, I feel like the luckiest gal alive! The event hasn’t even begun, but I’m already have a fantastic time. When I arrived in Orlando, I was absolutely starving. Lunch just did not cut it today.
On My Way
Greetings from the sky! I think we’re flying somewhere over the Carolinas now. Hi, Kath and Erica! I just spent the last 45 minutes writing my Health post for the week. I always write a rough draft and then go back a day or two later to do the edits.
