Hi, friends!
Here’s a what-I-ate/day-in-the-life recap for all of you! You guys said you enjoyed reading these types of posts on CNC, so I’m keeping them alive!
Breakfast
Yesterday’s breakfast was two slices of toast with Teddie Peanut Butter and banana slices on top. On the side, I had a container of Greek-style almond milk yogurt, which, like the coconut milk one, was no bueno. The texture just isn’t my jam. Once again, I didn’t want to waste it, so I ended up using the yogurt in a smoothie last night.
I used up the last of the peanut butter, so I gave Murphy the jar to lick. Teddie is his favorite!
Snack
After breakfast, I got ready for the day and then headed out to run some errands, which included a stop at Whole Foods for a (decaf) iced latte. I am obsessed with their almond milk lattes. The espresso they use is sooooo smooth and sooooo flavorful. Love, love, love!
I was also kind of hungry after my failed breakfast, so I bought a bag of Hail Merry macaroons to snack on. One of my CrossFit friends raves about these, so I wanted to see what they were all about and, whoa, they are delicious, especially if you love coconut. The flavor I bought (blonde) actually reminds me a lot of Nikki’s Vanilla Cake Batter Coconut Butter, so I wonder if I could make my own vegan macaroons at home? Hmmm…
After running my errands, I drove up to my friend Jen’s house to spend some time with her and meet her new baby, Tommy. (I swear, all of my closest friends just had babies or are pregnant now. Something is in the water”¦) Hanging out with Jen, meeting Tommy, and talking all things baby made me want Baby H. to get here even sooner! I just want to meet the little (kicking) lunatic already!
Snack
On the drive home from Jen’s house, I snacked on a banana and then finished off the bag of Hail Merry macaroons I bought that morning. It was well past lunchtime, so I was starving!
When I got home, a fun package was waiting for me: an adorable pug onesie from Kath and Mazen! Murphy thought it was especially awesome!
Snack
I was still pretty hungry when I got home and a CrossFit workout was on the agenda, so I spread some Light Creamy Swiss from The Laughing Cow on a rice cake to snack on.
Workout
Yesterday’s WOD was three Tabatas: Shoulder-to-Overhead, Deadlifts, and Double Unders. I scaled down my weight to 55 pounds for the S2OH, 95 pounds for the Deadlifts, and I did my best with Double Unders. There was a lot of leg/arm whipping yesterday! Haha!
Dinner
After CrossFit, Mal and I tagged-teamed dinner. I started cooking while he showered and then he finished up the meal while I showered, so dinner was done in no time. We had Italian chicken sausage with sautéed kale and mac & cheese. Delish!
Snack
A couple of hours later, I wanted something else to eat, so I whipped up a smoothie with the Greek-style almond milk yogurt from my breakfast, frozen peaches, almond milk, and spinach.
I spent the rest of the night watching TV with Mal and Murphy, who is SO persistent about laying on my belly. It takes him forever to get comfortable and he grunts like he is super annoyed with the situation, but he eventually settles down. Pug persistence at its finest!
Snack
I ended up waking up in the middle of the night with a grumbling/queasy stomach, so I made a piece of toast and added peanut butter and jelly on top. Having a little something in my stomach at all times definitely helps with the morning sickness/unsettled stomach.
Question of the Day
I ate a lot of snacks yesterday instead of straight up meals. I am usually more of a meal person with a couple of snacks mixed in, but constant snacking seems to work for me while I am dealing with morning sickness stuff.
Are you more of a 3-meals-per-day person or snacker or a combo of both?
P.S. Here’s the link to my TV segment that aired yesterday morning on NECN: Healthy drinks for the health-conscious dieter! It makes it sound like I only drink juice for breakfast, but we all know that’s not that case!
