• Rugged Maniac 5k

    April 9, 2011

Wahoo!! I had an absolute blast participating in the Rugged Maniac 5K with Anne and Heather today!

Rugged Maniac is not just any old running event. It combines rugged terrain with obstacles. It was insane and awesome at the same time.

It was a tad cold at the start of the race. I’m starting to think that I bring cold weather everywhere that I travel.

Goal for the day: Run like crazy, try not to die.

As Murphy always says: “Dirt don’t hurt.”

    Fire jump!

    IMG_0040 (640x480)

It might not look it, but this wall was super tall, scary, and slippery! We needed this guy’s help to get over it.

The grand finale of the race was a massive water slide!

Surprisingly, the water felt ‘clean’ after being covered head-to-toe in mud.

    IMG_0045 (640x480)

So fun!!! I’m already thinking about registered for the Rugged Maniac in Massachusetts in September!

    IMG_0044 (640x480)

After the race, Anne, Heather, and I rinsed off (via hose), changed into clean clothes, and disgarded our race clothes (sneakers included), which were not salvageable. Then, we headed over to the beer garden to enjoy a celebratory post race beer. Harpoon was the sponsor!

I have been dying to do one of these races – and your post confirms that it would be AMAZING! I think I’m going to have to sign up for the Massachusetts race this year!!
